A method of monitoring quality of extinguishing water in a sprinkler system by measuring electrical conductivity of the extinguishing water on at least one sprinkler head connected to an extinguishing water line. A quality and/or quality change of the extinguishing water is inferred from a measured conductivity value. A sprinkler head is disclosed that is suitable for carrying out the method. This sprinkler head has a connection fitting having a pipe section for connection to a free end of an extinguishing water pipe. A closure piece selectively closes the pipe section or free end of the extinguishing water pipe. A thermal trigger element holds the closure piece in a closed position in a normal state, and permits the closure piece to move into an open position at a trigger temperature. A conductivity sensor for measuring the electrical conductivity of the extinguishing water is provided on the sprinkler head.

Method for monitoring the quality of fire-fighting water in sprinkler systems, and sprinkler head

A sprinkler head for a sprinkler system including a pipe section, a sealing member provided over a pipe section discharge opening, an abutment connected to the pipe section via a support element, and thermal release element disposed between the abutment and sealing member. A triggering means controls active thermal triggering of the thermal release element and includes an electrical circuit board having a controller, an electric power supply, and an electrical conduction path along the thermal release element. The electrical circuit board is in electrical contact with the sealing member and support element. The abutment and sealing member are electrically connected to the electrical conduction path. Current fed by the power supply through the support element, the abutment, the electric conduction path, and sealing member is produced by means of the controller, causes active heating and thus a triggering of the thermal release element.

Sprinkler head

A fire-extinguishing or fire-protection device formed from a pressure vessel filled with a pressurized extinguishing medium. The device has an exit opening closed by a closure element which can be perforated by a perforation element. The pressurized extinguishing medium is held back in the pressure vessel from a passively thermally controlled trigger valve attached directly to the exit opening. The valve has a perforation element and a thermal triggering element. The perforation element is prestressed in a triggering position and is retained by the thermal triggering element in a standby position. When the triggering element is triggered as a result of a predetermined temperature being reached, the perforation element is released moving the triggering element to the triggering position in which it perforates the closure element. A thermal trigger valve suitable for use in the fire-extinguishing or fire-protection device is disclosed.

Compact miniature fire-extinguishing and/or fire-protection device

A thermal release element having a container body with an outer wall formed from a frangible material and a hollow space enclosed by the outer wall and enclosing a release fluid. The body is expanded in an axial direction with a tubular middle section extending in the axial direction and two end sections at each axial end. The middle section, as seen in a sectional plane transverse to the axial direction, has an outer contour of the outer wall that deviates from a circular or oval contour. The end sections each have a circular or an oval contour of the outer wall. Transition zones are provided between the middle and end sections where the outer contour of the outer wall transitions from the shape of the middle section deviating from a circular or oval shape, into the circular or oval shape of the end sections.

Thermal release element

A fire protection device for small electrical devices provided with a housing. The fire protection device includes a bursting capsule featuring a hollow space that is completely enclosed and delimited by a vessel wall, wherein a liquid is disposed in the hollow space. The liquid breaks the vessel wall at a predetermined trigger temperature due to thermal expansion thereby causing the bursting capsule to rupture. When the vessel wall ruptures and releases the liquid it has a fire preventing effect and/or a fire extinguishing effect.

Fire protection device for small electrical devices

A thermal triggering element for sprinklers, valves or the like including an enclosed compartment with a container filled with a highly temperature-sensitive shattering fluid for precise and reproducible adjustment of a triggering temperature within the range of a few degrees Celsius. The invention increases the accuracy of the triggering temperature and identifies shattering liquids that allow precise sensitive triggering action in terms of temperature of the triggering element and open up further triggering temperatures ranges. The triggering fluid contains or consists of a hydrocarbon compound selected among one of the following substance groups or a mixture thereof:
