An apparatus for the production of a multiple width fiber strip consisting of crimped interlaced filaments and having several zones extending in longitudinal direction of the fiber strip as well as at least one predetermined tear line (4) extending in longitudinal direction of the fiber strip, wherein the tear strength (daN) of the fiber strip, referred to the total denier (dtex) is at least about 1.7.times.10.sup.-4 daN/dtex, has a pair of transport rolls (8,9) for jointly transporting the supplied bands (1,2) and a crimping chamber (10.1, 10.1, 11, 12, 13, 14) which is arranged downstream of the pair of transport rolls (8, 9).

Multiple width fiber strip and method and apparatus for its production

A method is described for the production of a multiple width fiber strip consisting of crimped interlaced filaments and having several zones extending in longitudinal direction of the fiber strip as well as at least one predetermined tear line (4) extending in longitudinal direction of the fiber strip, wherein the tear strength (daN) of the fiber strip, referred to the total denier (dtex) is at least about 1.7.times.10.sup.-4 daN/dtex. The method produces one or several such fiber strips, with several separate bands (1, 2) being formed of substantially parallelly extending filaments and the formed bands being crimped jointly to produce one or several crimped fiber strips. The method makes possible the production of a multiple width fiber strip with the predetermined tear line referred to, processing on a double skein filter rod machine with a single (individual) treatment section.

Method of making multiple width fiber strip

The invention relates to a multiple width fiber strip consisting of crimped interlaced filaments and having several zones extending in longitudinal direction of the fiber strip as Well as at least one predetermined tear line (4) extending in longitudinal direction of the fiber strip, wherein the tear strength (daN) of the fiber strip, referred to the total denier (dtex) is at least about 1.7.times.10.sup.-4 daN/dtex. Further it relates to a method for producing one or several such fiber strips, with several separate bands (1, 2) being formed of substantially parallelly extending filaments and the formed bands being crimped jointly to produce one or several crimped fiber strips. The apparatus for carrying out this method is characterized by a pair of transport rolls (8, 9) for jointly transporting the supplied bands (1, 2) and a crimping chamber (10.1, 10.2, 11, 12, 13, 14) which is arranged after the pair of transport rolls (8, 9), for crimping the bands (1, 2) leaving the pair of transport rolls. The invention makes possible, in the case of the production of a multiple width fiber strip with the predetermined tear line referred to, processing on a double skein filter rod machine with a single (individual) treatment section.

A spinning pump (1) connected to a spinning pump block (2) by means of fastening screws (3) comprises a base plate (4) in contact with the connection face (11) of the spinning pump block (2), one or more gear plate (5), a cover plate (6), a drive shaft (7), an inlet channel (8) as well as outlet channels (9) for the spinning fluid, the channels (8, 9) are aligned with corresponding channels of the spinning pump block (2). The fastening screws (3) traverse through passage bores (12) an adapter part (15) connected with the cover plate (6) as well as plates (6,5,4) and are screwed into threaded bores (13) in the spinning pump block (2). The adapter part (15) has a groove (16) disposed parallel to the contact plane of base plate (4) and connection face (11), the depth of the groove being at least so great that the passage bores (12) lie in the region of the groove (16), and is at most so great that the outer limiting line or lines of the projection of the remaining area of the adapter part (15) lying in the plane of groove (16) embraces or embrace, in the plane in which lie the contact points of base plate (4) and connection face (11), the intersections of the inlet and outlet channels (8,9) with that plane. The spinning pump (1) permits a good seal at the contact face of base plate (4) and connection face (11) also at high melt pressure.

A gearing with two axis-parallel output shafts (2, 3) rotating in the same direction, for operation of a double screw extruder, has two pinions (4, 7) of equal size which are arranged in the annular space between an internally toothed ring gear (6) and an intermediate gear (5) in the spacing of the screws of the double screw extruder and mesh with the intermediate gear (5) and with the ring gear (6). The first of the two pinions (4) is arranged on the driving shaft (1), which is extended as output shaft (2). The second pinion (7) is arranged on the second output shaft (3). The gearing permits torque division of the torque from the driving shaft (1) to the two output shafts (2, 3).

A method of producing a warp beam, and the warp beam produced by this method are described. In order to detect in a welded metal warp beam (1) material and/or welding defects of the weld seams (9; 10) and of their beam flange-side immediate surrounding and in order to prevent a snapping off of the beam flanges (3; 4) due for instance to compressive forces created by the wound yarn, after the welding of the beam flange necks (5, 6) to the beam tube ends, the latter being reinforced internally, the weld seams (9; 10), their beam tube-side immediate surrounding as well as their beam flange-side immediate surrounding are lathed down approximately to final size; subsequently the warp beam (1) is tested by means of tensile forces oriented in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the beam tube, the total force being greater than the force necessary to reach the yield point of the metal in the beam tube wall portion (14) without internal reinforcement (15) in the final state and being less than the force necessary for reaching the yield point of the metal in the beam tube wall portion (13) which had been previously lathed down, in a state not yet relathed to final size. Finally the warp beam (1) is relathed in the cylindrical part so that the thickness (s2) of the beam tube wall portion (13) is greater than the thickness (s1) of the beam tube wall portion (14).

Method for the production of a warp beam, and warp beam so produced

In the case of the extruder, the thread of the screw, or that of the screws, is partly left-handed and partly right-handed, so that one part of the material to be processed is conveyed in direction A, while the other part is conveyed in the opposite direction B. The process is a degasifying-extrusion-process and the extruder is a degasifying extruder. The apparatus includes a reverse-degasifying assembly (7,22) at the end (8,19) of the screw (1,16), or screws (1,16), if the material to be processed is carried away from this end, and/or a reverse-degasifying assembly (41,52) at the location between the threaded sections of the screw (1,16) or screws (1,16), so that the material to be processed is carried away in opposite directions B and A. According to the invention, continuous operation is possible, no dead areas and break-away edges are formed, the reverse-degasifying assembly (7,22,41,52) is easily sealed off against any entry of oxygen, products sensitive to heat and oxidation, such as polyamide-66, may also be produced, without damage, in continuous operation, for example by synthetic-fibre extrusion spinning.
