A dental alloy with a high gold content that is devoid of palladium and copper. To achieve high mechanical stability, the dental alloy contains between 75 and 95 wt. % Au, between 5 and 20 wt. % Pt, between 0.5 and 3.5 wt. % Zn and/or Sn and/or In, between 0.1 and 0.8 wt. % of an element of a group I, in addition to a single particle refiner of a group II. C., contain 38 to 70% by weight gold, 6 to 20% by weight palladium, 8 to 40% by weight silver, 1 to 6% by weight iron and/or cobalt, 0 to 10% by weight copper, 0-5% each by weight indium, zinc and tin, 0 to 4% each by weight gallium and germanium, ruthenium and/or rhenium. The sum of the contents of tin, zinc, indium, gallium and germanium can be between 1 and 5% by weight.

Solder alloy for dental and jewelry parts

Noble metal alloys are used to produce attachments that can be cast-on, particularly in dental technology, having a melting range above 1500.degree. C. The alloys comprise about 40-70% platinum, about 10-40% palladium, about 5-20% iridium, about 0.5-10% gold, about 0-13 3% silver and about 0-1% each of ruthenium and rhodium.

A denture with a metallic microstructure and with low shrinkage and porosity is produced by metallurgical sintering by providing a multimodal size distribution of coarse and fine fractions of metal powder, optionally also with glass or ceramic powder, converting this powder mixture with water into a slip, modelling the denture with this, and sintering the slip at a temperature which exceeds the solidus temperature of at least one component of the powder mixture.
