A gas generator is provided for generating gas including steam and carbon dioxide from the combustion of a hydrocarbon gas with oxygen. The gas generator includes an enclosure with an induction head (201) having an oxygen inlet and a fuel inlet therein, an adapter block (202) to which the induction head (201) attaches and a mixing chamber (203) to which the adapter block (202) is attached. The fuel and oxygen enter the enclosure by first passing through the induction head (201). A start up igniter (210) is located within the induction head (201) to ignite the fuel and oxygen mixture within the enclosure. The adapter block (202) includes a shroud extending away from the induction head (201) and which defines a combustion chamber within the enclosure. The fuel and oxygen mixture is combusted within the combustion chamber before passing out of the shroud of the adapter block (202) and into the mixing chamber (203). The mixing chamber (203) includes a water inlet for the induction of water into the mixing chamber (203) to cool the combustion products exiting the combustion chamber and heat the water entering the mixing chamber (203) from the water inlet. The gas generator generates gas both directly as steam and carbon dioxide which are products of the combustion of the hydrocarbon fuel and the oxygen and by raising a temperature of the water entering the mixing chamber (203) from the water inlet to above its boiling point such that the water is turned into steam. The steam from the combustion chamber and the steam from the water separately entering the mixing chamber (203) are mixed and discharged together at an end of the mixing chamber (203) opposite that of the adapter block (202). The oxygen entering the induction head (201) is free of nitrogen so that the products of combustion are free of nitrogen containing pollutants.

Pollution-free or low pollution, efficient, large scale electrical power generation systems, using thermal energy from combustion of hydrocarbon fuel are described herein. The pollutant-free hydrocarbon fuel is combusted in a gas generator with pure oxygen or substantially pure oxygen that is free of nitrogen. Water is also injected into the gas generator. The gas generator discharges high enthalpy steam and carbon dioxide which can then be utilized in a variety of applications including driving turbines for power generation. The steam can be recycled into the gas generator or discharged for various uses. The carbon dioxide can be collected for industrial use or discharged.

Five embodiments of Pollution-Free, Efficient, Large Scale Electrical Power Generation Systems, using thermal energy are illustrated herein. Each embodiment is composed of subsystems and/or individual elements which tailor each system to an operating environment that requires different implementation modes or applications. Also illustrated are two embodiments configured to adapt smaller scale power plants to applications such as platform mounted portable power applications, large vehicle propulsion, and other applications. Also illustrated is an embodiment configured to produce high quality fluid at controlled pressures and temperatures as required by a wide range of industrial applications.

A process is provided for secondary and tertiary recovery of hydrocarbon from hydrocarbon bearing formations. Apparatus for carrying out the process is also provided. Combustion products are formed in a bipropellant generator, the combustion products being at supercritical pressures and temperatures relative to steam. Water and steam are combined with the combustion gases, which may include steam, and forced through the center of a cooling jacket which is provided to cool the walls of the well bore. Chemical additives may be added to the mixture of combustion gases and steam between the bipropellant generator and well bore or below the cooling jacket.

Dual expander rocket engine

Four embodiments of high-thrust rocket engines, each having separate propellant delivery apparatus for each propellant to be delivered to the engine thrust chamber, are illustrated herein. One engine is designed to provide a high thrust using only one fuel and one oxidizer. The other three engine embodiments are all designed to use different propellants having different densities during different portions of a rocket flight. Each of these additional engines includes the basic structure of the first. The first engine is thus not only an effective engine, but also a building block that can be easily modified to provide an engine capable of operating effectively with different propellants.

Mixed mode rocket engine

An improved ozone generator formed from two groups of spaced, interleaved, relatively small reactor plates in a housing. Each of the plates is cooled by a coolant passing through the interior thereof. The coolant is a refrigerant flowing through a refrigeration system for which the plates define the evaporator. Each plate has a ceramic outer coating which provides a dielectric therefor and protects the plate from corrosion. Improved support means for each group of plates includes a pair of tubular mounts formed from fittings which convey the refrigerant to internal passages in the plates, provide the electrical connections thereto, and permit the plates to be coupled together as a modular unit so that the plates can be leak-tested before being placed in the housing. Improved fluid distribution means is provided at the inlet and outlet ends of the housing to assure uniform flow of air into the housing and uniform flow of air and ozone out of the housing.
