There is provided a parking aid control system () and method () for a vehicle (). The control system () is configured to generate a parking aid signal () for assisting a driver of the vehicle. The control system () is configured to receive an indication () of a gear selection made by a driver of the vehicle; receive, from a plurality of proximity sensors () associated with the vehicle, proximity data () indicative of a location of one or more objects in an environment of the vehicle; determine a direction of travel of the vehicle in dependence on the gear selection (); and selectively output a parking aid signal () for outputting to a driver of the vehicle an indication of the location of at least some of the objects in dependence on the direction of travel of the vehicle.

Parking aid control system and method

Embodiments of the present invention provide a controller (). The controller () comprises input means () for receiving one or more state signals each indicative of one or more of a vehicle characteristic, a user characteristic and an environment characteristic. The controller () comprises output means () for outputting an availability signal indicative of an availability of an autonomous driving mode of a host vehicle. The controller () comprises control means () arranged to control the output means () to output the availability signal in dependence on the one or more state signals.

Vehicle controller and control method

There is provided a parking aid control system () and method () for a vehicle (). The control system () is configured to receive proximity data () indicative of a location of one or more objects () in an environment of the vehicle. The control system () is configured to output, to a parking aid interface () of the vehicle, parking aid data () indicative of the location of at least some of the one or more objects (). A cancellation signal () is received indicative of a user input for inhibiting the parking aid interface (). A gear change signal () is received, the gear change signal () being indicative of a change in a gear selection of the vehicle. The control system () is configured to suppress the inhibition of the parking aid interface in dependence on the gear change signal ().

Aspects of the present invention relate to a control system () for a vehicle (), the control system comprising one or more controller, the one or more controller comprising an electrical input () arranged to receive image data () from one or more imaging devices (), the image data indicative of an environment external to the vehicle (), a processor () arranged to generate one or more graphical indicators, each graphical indicator representing an extent of a projection () from the vehicle into the environment external to the vehicle, wherein the extent of the projection is not visible in the image data, and an electrical output () arranged to output augmented image data comprising the image data and data indicative of the one or more graphical indicators for display on a display device.
