A brake assembly includes a caliper having a first side portion connected to a second side portion by two circumferentially spaced bridge arms. The brake assembly includes a first brake pad and a second brake pad that are interchangeable and each having first and second circumferential ends. Each of the first and second brake pads have a pad formation remote from the first and second circumferential ends. The first brake pad is fitted in the first side portion of the caliper with the pad formation of the first brake pad engaging a caliper formation of the first portion side of the caliper for transferring braking torque loads from the first brake pad to the first side portion of the caliper. The second brake pad is fitted in the second side portion of the caliper with the first and second circumferential ends of the second brake pad engaging respective first and second circumferentially spaced abutments of the brake assembly for transferring braking torque loads from the second brake pad to the brake assembly.

Brake assembly

A trailer axle assembly includes a non-rotating axle tube that extends laterally between a pair of wheel ends. Each wheel end supports a disc brake assembly that selectively generates a braking force to slow or stop rotation of the wheel ends. The disc brake assemblies include a torque plate that is mounted to the axle tube. The axle tube includes a radial location feature that holds the torque plate fixed relative to the axle tube so that rotational brake torque is transmitted directly through a solid interface. The axle tube also includes an axial location feature that positions the torque plate at a predetermined location along the axle beam and prevents relative axial movement between the axle beam and the torque plate.

Method and apparatus for locating an axle torque plate

An air brake actuator assembly includes a pre-formed air chamber component and a cast brake housing. A portion of the cast brake housing is cast around a portion of the air chamber component. This securely attaches the air chamber component to the cast brake housing without requiring additional fastening structures.

A vehicle suspension assembly includes a device for securing an axle to a selected suspension component. A seat member that is received between the axle and the suspension component includes an axle adaptor as part of the seat member. A first portion of the seat member is received between the axle and the suspension component. A second portion of the seat member extends away from the first portion and includes at least one support surface for supporting a brake component relative to the axle. In one example embodiment, the seat member includes an integrated brake carrier.
