Different solutions, in which uplink data streams are whitened and after that combined, are disclosed. The whitening is performed by applying whitening parameters received in a downlink control information. The whitening parameters are based on predictions on channel conditions.

Whitening uplink data streams

Techniques for providing a multiple donor supported repeater within a communication network are disclosed. An example of such techniques includes an apparatus which establishes a control channel with a respective donor node of one or more donor nodes. The apparatus receives an indication of resource information from the one or more donor nodes via the corresponding control channel. The apparatus determines a grid of physical repeater beam channels to cover an access area based at least in part on the received indication of resource information from the one or more donor nodes. Corresponding methods and computer program products are also provided.

Multiple donor supported directional repeater

An aggregation unit includes a transceiver configured to transmit unique signals to a plurality of transmission reception points (TRxPs) for transmission by the plurality of TRxPs and receive uplink signals received by the plurality of TRxPs from a user equipment. The aggregation unit also includes a processor configured to generate a sum of the uplink signals from a subset of the plurality of TRxPs. The subset is determined based on measurements of the unique signals performed by the UE. In some cases, the subset is determined by a baseband unit that receives a measurement report including the measurements performed by the UE. The transceiver is configured to transmit the sum of the uplink signals to the baseband unit over a fronthaul link.

Antenna selection for uplink signals in a wireless communication system

In accordance with example embodiments of the invention there is at least an apparatus and a method to perform determining, by a network node, a repeater, and/or a user equipment of a communication network, a configuration message comprising an identified frequency range of at least one of a first communication link between a donor and a repeater or a second communication link between a user equipment and the repeater for a repeat transmission in the communication network; and communicating with at least one of the repeater or the user equipment an indication of the configuration message for configuration at the repeater and the user equipment of the at least one set of sub-carriers mapped with the at least one physical channel for the repeat transmission, wherein the configuration message is using at least a different frequency offset of supported radio frequency resources to map at least one set of sub-carriers of the at least one of the first communication link and the second communication link with at least one physical channel in supported radio frequency resources of at least one of the first communication link or the second communication link, and mapping comprises performing spectral modification of resources to cause at least one of: sub-carrier shifting, wherein a sub-carrier is selected for the repeater to frequency shift to another part of the spectrum, based on instructions by the network node, sub-carrier inversion, wherein sub-carriers' indices are inversed, based on an on/off decision by the network node, and wherein the spectral modification is causing the at least one set of sub-carriers with the at least one physical channel to have different spectral properties as compared to a target set of sub-carriers associated with at least one of the user equipment or the repeater.

Method and apparatus for a sub-band transpose repeater

Various techniques are provided for spectrum allocation. A method can include receiving a message including a first maximum power setting, a second maximum power setting, and a spatial range associated with the second maximum power setting, transmitting at least one first beam within the first maximum power in a spatial range excluding the spatial range associated with the second maximum power setting, and transmitting at least one second beam within the second maximum power in the spatial range associated with the second maximum power setting.

Partial spectrum evacuation in citizens broadband radio service (CBRS) networks

Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for utilizing uplink (UL) CoMP helper data are provided. One method includes setting, by a network node serving a user equipment, a priority for a helper data request of an uplink transmission of the user equipment. The setting may include setting the priority based on a specific history of the user equipment. The method may also include sending the helper data request to another network node and, optionally, sending the priority set for the helper data request to said another network node.

Methods and apparatuses for performing uplink coordinated multi-point communication

Various communication systems may have various mechanisms for handling data loss. For example, certain wireless communication systems may benefit from appropriate handling of uplink coordinated multipoint helper data loss on a subset of symbols within a transmission time interval. A method can include receiving helper data corresponding to a portion of an uplink subframe. The method can also include performing coordinated multipoint processing on the portion of the uplink subframe using the helper data.

Frequency domain compression of fronthaul interface for transporting frequency domain data over Ethernet includes applying Inverse Discrete Fourier Transform to frequency domain data contained in a frequency bandwidth to generate a time domain output signal in a time domain. The time domain output signal is compressed to generate a compressed time domain output signal. The compressed time domain output signal is transmitted over a fronthaul interface to a remote unit. The compressed time domain output signal is decompressable at the remote unit to generate a decompressed time domain output signal. Discreet Fourier Transform is applied to the decompressed time domain output signal at the remote unit to recover the frequency domain data.

Achieving phase synchronization in single frequency networks may be useful in various communication systems. For example, the use of synchronous Ethernet, timing over packet, and radio interface based synchronization (RIBS) may be applied in mobile and/or data communication networks. Certain embodiments improve phase accuracy using a hybrid synchronization method beyond standard RIBS and clustering carriers using the same transmission waveforms across carriers. Certain embodiments also select a master transmission point to maximize the signal quality of the composite waveforms in a cluster.

Various communication systems may benefit from an improved signaling protocol. For example, communication systems may benefit from an improved network support for a single frequency network transmission using an Ethernet switch. A method includes receiving a message at an access point in a single frequency network from a network entity through a data switch. The message comprises an indication of at least one of a downlink physical channel or an uplink physical channel. The method also includes transmitting a request for a signal characteristic through the at least one downlink physical channel to a user equipment. In addition, the method includes receiving the signal characteristic through the at least one uplink physical channel from the user equipment. Further, the method includes transmitting a response message through the data switch from the access point to the network entity indicating the signal characteristic.

Single frequency network using Ethernet multicast

An apparatus and method for antenna selection in uplink coordinated multipoint communications, where a plural number of geographically separated antennas are present, forming a plural number of cells. This apparatus and method relates to selecting a PRACH configuration, sharing information regarding the selected PRACH preamble amongst cells; an user equipment, upon receiving instruction from its serving cell, transmits a PRACH preamble. All cells, including serving cell, detects the selected PRACH preamble in the received PRACH transmission transmitted by the user equipment, determining pathloss information regarding the quality of the detected selected PRACH preamble, and selecting a set of cooperative multipoint antennas from the plural number of antennas based on the determined channel quality information for this user equipment. This apparatus and method is also applicable for antenna selection in the case of a single cell with a plural number of geographically separated antennas.

Antenna selection in coordinated multipoint communications

A method to balance idle UEs during RA procedures is described. The method includes determining a load condition of a first cell and a load condition of at least one neighbor cell and determining a suitability of the first cell for receiving access attempts from idle mobile devices based on the load conditions of the first cell and of the at least one neighbor cell. The method includes sending an indication of the suitability (for example, in a broadcast message and/or a UE specific message). A UE receives the indication of suitability. The UE selects a target cell from a plurality of cells based at least in part on the indication (for example, in order to select a target cell that is less loaded). The method also includes sending, from the UE, an access attempt to the target cell. Apparatus and computer readable media are also described.

Idle load balancing during random access procedure

A method includes selecting a subset k of N accessible antennas to use to process a transmission received at the N antennas and sent by a user equipment, and processing the transmission from the user equipment at least by using baseband information from the k antennas. An apparatus includes one or more processors and one or more memories including computer program code. The one or more memories and the computer program code are configured to, with the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following: selecting a subset k of N accessible antennas to use to process a transmission received at the N antennas and sent by a user equipment; and processing the transmission from the user equipment at least by using baseband information from the k antennas. Uplink grouping and aperture apparatus

A method is disclosed that includes accessing baseband information for a number, N (N&#x3e;1), of antennas accessible by a number of baseband units, where the baseband information correspond to a transmission by a user equipment and is received at the N antennas. The method includes determining values for one or more metrics for the baseband information for the N antennas. The method includes selecting, based on the determined values, a subset k of the N antennas and corresponding baseband information to use to determine output data for the transmission by the user equipment. The method includes determining the output data for the user equipment using the baseband information from the k antennas. Apparatus and computer program products are also disclosed.
