Siliconized fibrous webs are described. The siliconized webs include a fibrous web saturated with an electron beam cured silicone composition. Siliconized webs with electron beam cured silicone coating are also described. Methods of preparing both the coated and uncoated siliconized fibrous webs are also described.

Electron beam cured siliconized fibrous webs

A protective film includes a base layer and a wear layer, the wear layer comprising a UV cured hardcoat resin, and the UV cured hardcoat resin comprising surface modified silica nanoparticles. The protective film may comprise a pressure sensitive adhesive for adhesion to a floor. The protective film may be used, for example, as a protective floor finish.

An adhesive masking article for shielding a protected work surface from a coating applied to a surface adjacent the protected work surface includes a backing layer having first and second opposed major surfaces, and at least one edge, an adhesive on at least a portion of at least one of the first and second backing layer opposed major surfaces, and a barrier inducing treatment on at least an edge surface of the masking article to contact the coating when the coating contacts the edge of the backing layer, thereby causing a barrier to form along the edge of the masking article that impedes the migration of the coating past the edge of the masking article beneath the masking article.

Method of detackifying an edge face of a roll of tape

A mixture is provided comprising (a) at least one of an elastomeric thermoplastic, a non-elastomeric thermoplastic, an elastomeric thermoset and mixtures thereof, excluding polydiorganosiloxane fluids and (b) a polymer having soft polydiorganosiloxane units, hard polyisocyanate residue units, optionally, soft and/or hard organic polyamine residue units and terminal groups. The hard polyisocyanate residue and the hard polyamine residue comprise less than 50% by weight of the polydiorganosiloxane urea containing component. The polyisocyanate residue is the polyisocyanate minus the &#x2014;NCO groups and the polyamine residue is the polyamine minus the &#x2014;NHgroups. The polyisocyanate residue is connected to the polyamine residue by urea linkages. The terminal groups are non-functional groups or functional groups. The polydiorganosiloxane urea containing component may be reactive under free-radical or moisture curing conditions. The mixture may also optionally contain tackifying materials, free radical initiators, crosslinking agents, cure catalysts, and nonreactive additives such as fillers, pigments, stabilizers, antioxidants, flame retardants, plasticizers, compatibilizers and the like.

Polymer mixtures containing polydiorganosiloxane urea-containing components

A pressure-sensitive adhesive comprising a blend of at least two components, wherein the first component is at least one pressure-sensitive adhesive and second component is at least one thermoplastic material, wherein the components form a blended composition having more than one domain and, wherein one domain is substantially continuous (generally, the pressure-sensitive adhesive) and the other domain is substantially fibrillous to schistose (generally, the thermoplastic material). The second component can be (a) at least one thermoplastic elastomer, (b) at least one elastomer with a tackifying resin or (c) at least one elastomer.

Blended pressure-sensitive adhesives

A pressure-sensitive adhesive comprising a blend of at least two components, wherein the first component is at least one pressure-sensitive adhesive and the second component is at least one thermoplastic material, wherein the components form a blended composition having more than one domain and, wherein one domain is substantially continuous (generally, the pressure-sensitive adhesive) and the other domain is substantially fibrillous to schistose (generally, the thermoplastic material). The second component can be (a) at least one thermoplastic elastomer, (b) at least one elastomer with a tackifying resin or (c) at least one elastomer.

An adhesive tape is provided which comprises a woven cloth, a polymer embedded into the cloth so as to cause the warp and weft fibers of the cloth to bond together at their overlapping points but not to completely encase the fibers, and a pressure sensitive adhesive coated onto at least a portion of the polymer, wherein the adhesive tape is hand tearable in the down-web and in the cross-web direction. A method of manufacturing such a tape is also provided.

A polymer includes an ethylene-containing backbone having substituents attached thereto, wherein the substituents include a urethane linked nitrogen-bonded hydrocarbon side chain having about 5 carbon atoms or more in length and a terminal methyl group; and an oxygen linked water solubilizing group. The polymer is particularly useful in a release coating composition and is suitable for forming films from aqueous dispersions thereof, organic solvent dispersions thereof, or mixtures thereof.

Release coating for adhesive articles and method

The invention provides a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition for medical applications comprising a blend of at least two components comprised of about 5 to about 95% by weight of a first component comprised of at least one acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive and about 5 to about 95% by weight of a second component comprised of either (a) at least one elastomer with a tackifying resin, or (b) at least one thermoplastic elastomer, wherein the resulting pressure-sensitive adhesive demonstrates a T.sub.0 of at least 1 N/dm and a T.sub.48 of less than 12 N/dm when adhered to skin. The pressure-sensitive adhesive composition is prepared either in the presence of a solvent or is alternatively prepared by melt blending. A method of preparing such an adhesive is also disclosed.
