A self-ratcheting wrench for applying torque to a polygonal cross-section body such as a bolt or nut has an elongated handle terminated at one end thereof by a head having an opening adapted to receive the nut. A plurality of three-sided pawls pivotable in a transverse plane are arranged around the opening and spring biased to place a flat face wall of the pawls against the flat sides of alternate nut faces. Motion of each pawl radially inward into the nut-receiving opening is limited by abutting contact of a first inner side wall of each pawl with a triangular-shaped stop, the abutting contact also providing means for transmitting torque applied to the handle of the wrench to the pawl and contacting nut. In the preferred embodiment, the second side wall of each pawl is convexly curved, and intersects the face wall of the pawl at an obtuse angle, both characteristics serving to facilitate sliding motion of the pawls over the faces of the nut when the wrench is orbited in a direction opposite to a torque-applying direction, during which ratcheting action pawls are pivoted radially outwards against spring tension.

Open-end ratchet wrench

A shear seal valve includes a valve body defining an interior valve chamber and a slide member axially movable in the valve chamber. Fluid passages, formed in the valve body and the slide, are selectively interconnected in accordance with the relative position of the slide member within the valve chamber, and tubular shear seals, biased tightly against the slide, avoid fluid leakage along the slide. To provide low-friction sliding movement of the slide relative to the slide body, a pair of roller bearings are supported by the valve body so as to engage the slide. By mounting the roller bearings to the valve body rather than to the slide itself, the slide can be made smaller, and greater freedom in the location of the fluid passages within the slide is obtained. To simplify construction and assembly, the roller bearings are mounted in a removable cover plate forming a part of the valve body and defining one wall of the interior valve chamber. Preferably, the tubular shear seals include frusto-conically shaped flanges for limiting movement of the seals and for avoiding the development of cocking forces on the seals.

Hydraulic shear seal valve including slide bearing

A gear shift connecting apparatus of the type operable to latch and release a gear shift rod of a tiltable tractor cab to a chassis portion of the tractor. The gear shift connecting apparatus includes a housing operably connected to the tractor chassis and a connection member fashioned on the lowermost portion of the gear shift rod. A hydraulically actuated connecting/release assembly is mounted within the housing and includes a cylindrical cup operable to receive the connection portion of the gear shift rod. In a connection mode spherical locking members carried by a cylindrical sleeve radially engage a connection portion of the gear shift rod. A locking/disabling sleeve is telescopically mounted about the cylindrical sleeve and is biased in a posture to retain the spherical locking members in contact with the gear shift rod. In a release mode a hydraulic chamber is actuated which slides the locking/disabling sleeve out of backup contact with the spherical locking members. The locking members are then cammed out of engagement with the gear shift rod to permit the gear shift rod to be separated from the housing and tractor chassis.

Gear shift connecting apparatus

A latching mechanism for a cab which is tiltably mounted to the chassis of a vehicle. The cab is normally disposed over the engine of the vehicle in a first or lowered position and is pivotally attached to the chassis at its forward end for movement through 90.degree. to a second or raised position. The latching mechanism securely locks the cab in the lowered position and includes interengaging latching elements attached to the underside of the cab and to the chassis of the vehicle. The receiving means includes a ball detent arrangement actuated by means of a hydraulically powered cam sleeve. The ball detents move radially between a first or unlocked position and a second and locked position. When in the locked position, the detents engage shoulder portions on one latching element to securely lock the cab to the chassis.
