The present invention, therefore, is directed to a novel method for improving conversion in a fluidized catalytic cracking unit feed stream containing vanadium. According to the method, an effective amount of a composition comprising at least one overbase complex of a magnesium or aluminum salt or a mixture thereof and an organic acid complexing agent is incorporated into the feed stream.

Methods for improving conversion in fluidized catalytic cracking units

Oil well production fluid composed of oil and water and containing in excess of 100 ppm water soluble petroleum carboxylates in anionic form dissolved in the water is treated by acidifying the fluid to a pH of 6.0 or lower with a strong acid and then is intimately mixed. The oil and water are separated one from the other. The content of the water soluble organics in the water is thereby substantially transferred to the oil phase. In a second aspect of the invention, water used to extract corrosion compounds to render the oil suitable for fueling gas turbine power plants is acidified to a pH of 6.0 or lower and is thereafter intimately mixed with fuel oil.

Method of removing water soluble organics from oil process water

This invention relates to the use of hydrocarbon polymers or copolymers in conjunction with demulsifiers in demulsification. The use of said hydrocarbon polymers-demulsifier combination is more effective in demulsification than is achieved by the use of the demulsifier alone. The process is particularly effective in desalting oils.
