A method of displaying, buying, and trading electronic trading cards on a computer or handheld electronic device by running an electronic trading card application on the computer or handheld device that communicates via the internet with at least one remote server containing a registry of all electronic trading cards. The electronic trading card application running on the computer or handheld device transmits a transaction request to the at least one remote server to execute a purchase or trade between two users of one or more electronic trading cards. The electronic trading card application further displays various components of an electronic trading card based upon user inputs.

Method of displaying and transacting electronic trading cards

An apparatus, method, and system for measuring the magnetic field produced by phase conductors in multi-phase power lines. The magnetic field measurements are used to determine the current load on the conductors. The magnetic fields are sensed by coils placed sufficiently proximate the lines to measure the voltage induced in the coils by the field without touching the lines. The x and y components of the magnetic fields are used to calculate the conductor sag, and then the sag data, along with the field strength data, can be used to calculate the current load on the line and the phase of the current. The sag calculations of this invention are independent of line voltage and line current measurements. The system applies a computerized fitter routine to measured and sampled voltages on the coils to accurately determine the values of parameters associated with the overhead phase conductors.

Sensor, method and system of monitoring transmission lines

Compact illumination systems, particularly for aircraft, use efficient beam forming optical light emitting diode arrangements combined with beam turning and beam splitting prism optics and optional aspheric reflectors to direct light in a cross cabin or cross bin lighting application. The LED based compact illumination devices are positioned to shine on opposite storage/stowage bins without being directly visible to a passenger. The devices are effective for illuminating ceiling structures as well as across the aisles of a passenger cabin, thus creating a cross-bin lighting system.

Interior lighting and illumination systems for aircraft, particularly commercial passenger airplanes. Efficient beam forming optical light emitting diode arrangements having offset apertures for maximizing effectiveness are positioned in the ceiling panels above the aisles between sets of seats in the passenger cabins for cross bin illumination of stowage areas. The efficient beam forming optical LED devices are positioned to shine on opposite storage/stowage bins and are positioned to overcome line of height light source restrictions such as may be imposed by a valence. The devices are effective for illuminating across the aisles, thus creating a cross-bin lighting system.

Device for improved illumination efficiency

An illumination system for an aircraft passenger cabin has a first illumination source positioned between a ceiling structure and a first row of stowage bins. A first light direction assembly is positioned between the ceiling structure and the first row of stowage bins. The first light direction assembly is used to direct emitted light from the first illumination source onto a face of a luggage bin of a second row of stowage bins. A second light direction assembly is also positioned between the ceiling structure and the first row of stowage bins and is used to direct emitted light from the first illumination source into a passenger cabin. A second illumination source is positioned between the ceiling structure and the first row of stowage bins to illuminate the ceiling structure.

Cross bin illumination system

The perimetral portion may be formed in a predetermined shape to substantially prevent any spontaneously emitted photons created in the lasing portion and entering the perimetral portion from returning to the lasing portion.

In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus for measuring light scatter loss from a test piece includes a light source, an optical cavity including the test piece and at least one mirror located along a path, and a light detector. The cavity receives an input beam from the light source, circulates a beam within the cavity as a circulating beam, and produces an output beam. Irregularities on the surface of the test piece result in a progressive diffusion of the circulating beam about the path. The light detector provides an output signal based on the intensity of the output beam. The output signal has an initial slope that determines a first saturation value. The output signal has a second saturation value. The difference between the first saturation value and the second saturation value provides a scatter loss measurement.

Light scatter measurement apparatus and method

An optical element is provided that may be used for collecting optical radiation incident at large angles of incidence. The element may include a grating window formed of grating elements that may collect large incident angle radiation and reflect that radiation, e.g., under total internal reflection in a substantially normal direction. A lens or lens array may be used to collect the internally reflected radiation and focus that radiation to a detector. Example detectors include infrared detectors. The element may be formed to collect, reflect, and redirect optical radiation incident at angles above 45&#xb0; as measured from a surface normal to a detector oriented substantially at normal incidence. The detected signal from the optical element may be used to control systems within an aircraft or other vehicle capable of flight. In another application, the optical element may also be used to project optical radiation at the same large angles by replacing the detector elements with light sources, such as light emitting diodes.

Apparatus for monitoring the temperature of a high voltage conductor includes an electrically and thermally conductive fixture for attachment to a high voltage conductor, and a high voltage insulator having a high voltage end and a reference potential end. The insulator is connected at the high voltage end to the fixture. The insulator contains a fiber optic cable in a fiber optic cable passageway from the reference potential end to the high voltage end. The cable extends beyond the insulator. An optical temperature sensor head is optically coupled to the cable the high voltage end. The sensor head includes a sensor crystal which transmits light that varies with temperature of the sensor crystal. An electrically and thermally conductive enclosure enclosing the sensor head is supported in the fixture for thermally conductive contact with the high voltage conductor effective to couple the temperature of the high voltage conductor to the sensor crystal. An optoelectrical unit powers and detects the optic signal carrying the information about the temperature of the high voltage conductor.

A tendon threader and process for its use for positioning and endosteally mounting a tendon within the endosteum of a closed tunnel end of a straight ligament tunnel that has been formed in a patient's knee in an arthroscopic surgical procedure for replacement of a cruciate ligament. The tendon threader includes a straight tubular body, with a handle arranged on one end, and the other tube end includes a pair of aligned wide longitudinal slots formed, with tube end remainder portions adjacent to which wide longitudinal slots each having a small longitudinal slot formed therein, the small slots for receiving a tendon, or a suture sewn onto the end of a tendon, fitted therein, forming a loop across the tube end. The tendon threader is for insertion into the straight ligament tunnel to where the tendon or suture loop is proximate to a ligament tunnel section end. Which procedure may be observed on a fluoroscopic monitor or utilizing an arthroscope fitted in the tendon threader tubular body, with a surgeon turning a pin into the side of the patient's knee, that travels through the ligament tunnel section and through the tendon or suture loop. The tendon threader is then removed leaving the tendon or suture folded over the pin, and the tendon or suture end is pulled over the pin to where the tendon ends are positioned over one another for mounting, under tension, as by stapling, onto the bone cortex surface adjacent to the straight ligament open tunnel end, completing the installation.

A muffler device for reducing the noise level of an internal combustion engine as exhaust gases and sound waves produced by the operation of the engine are expelled into the atmosphere is disclosed. The device is placed in the exhaust system, being disposed within the exhaust pipe or pipes as close to the exhaust manifold as possible. The device has a sound chamber for attenuating sound waves entering the chamber by deflection of the sound waves back toward their source and a venturi for drawing exhaust gases through the device and expelling them to the atmosphere.
