A ventilation system for a building in some cases includes a main HVAC blower for moving temperature-conditioned air through the building plus a smaller ventilation blower for providing fresh air. A controller regulates the ventilation blower's speed to provide a target ventilation flow rate regardless of changes in the pressure differential between the indoor and outdoor air. To ensure that the target rate is appropriate for a particular building, the target flow rate is determined based on a ventilation setting that reflects a specified number of bedrooms and a specified amount of floor space of the building.

Ventilation controller

A centrifugal blower has a first housing section and a second housing section separated by a width of the centrifugal blower. The centrifugal blower also has an intake port extending through the first housing section and the second housing section along the width, and an outlet port formed by the first housing section and the second housing section. A dimension of the width continuously decreases as the outlet port is approached along a length of the centrifugal blower.

Systems and methods are disclosed that include providing a heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system with a system controller and an indoor air handling unit comprising an auxiliary heat source, whereby the system controller is configured to employ a hysteresis control algorithm to operate the HVAC system in a cooling mode while simultaneously operating the auxiliary heat source to provide a dehumidified, temperature-conditioned airflow to a zone conditioned by the HVAC system.

A heat exchanger has an upper region, a lower region disposed vertically lower than the upper region, and a passive charge management device. The passive charge management device has an internal volume, an upper tube connecting the internal volume to at least one of the upper region and the lower region at a first vertical height, and a lower tube connecting the internal volume to at least one of the upper region and the lower region at a second vertical height that is vertically lower than the first vertical height.

System and method of charge management

In an air conditioning system for circulating cooled air to an enclosed space, a controller including a temperature sensor, a humidity sensor and a microcontroller for controlling the indoor fan or blower to prevent operation of same if a fan run-on mode is selected or continuous fan operation is selected and the humidity sensed in the enclosed space is greater than a predetermined amount. Continuous fan operation is allowed unless the humidity exceeds a user defined setpoint during an air cooling operating mode. If the humidity sensed is greater than the predetermined amount, the fan is operated only when the system is providing cooled air, such as when the system compressor is energized.
