A nonionic hydrophilic macromolecule without added lubricating oil provides lubrication to textured at least partially oriented yarns to protect the yarns during subsequent processing, such as weaving to improve weaving efficiency. Softer yarns and fabrics are obtained than with conventional textured yarns while also providing improved adhesion and dyeability.

A layered textile composite product is disclosed which may include a nonwoven needled layer. The nonwoven needled layer is comprised of mechanically interlocked staple fibers which are needled together on a needle punch machine and then bonded with an adhesive layer to a polymeric or polyolefin film layer. The overall layered textile product may be used in several different applications, including for example in automobiles for seating, load floor, trunk linings, floor carpeting, door panel trim, and other interior trim applications.

Needled nonwoven textile composite

Fabrics having improved aesthetic characteristics in addition to good FR characteristics and strength are described, as well as a method for making the fabrics. The fabrics are made by subjecting a fabric containing inherently flame resistant fibers to a fluid treatment process such that a fabric with good comfort and aesthetic characteristics is formed. In one form of the invention, the fabric comprises plied yarns, and the fluid treatment process serves to separate the plies from each other. The fabrics have a soft hand, good protective characteristics, good strength and durability, as well as good wicking and soil release characteristics.

A fabric having a unique combination of stain resistance, fluid barrier properties, aesthetic characteristics and drape ability is described, and a method of making such fabrics. The fabric includes a fabric substrate that has been treated with a low surface energy stain resist compound on at least one of its surfaces, and one or more layers secured to the other of its surfaces, with the layers providing the fabric with the unique combination of characteristics. In addition, the fabric is desirably provided with flame resisting and ultraviolet resisting characteristics, to enable it to be used as a seating material for transportation vehicles. Methods for making the fabric are also described.

Barrier fabric

A warp-knitted fabric of at least three-bar construction, having multifilament synthetic pile yarns on the technical back which are raised or broken to produce a plush surface and monofilament synthetic ground yarns on the technical face. The fabric and/or yarns being hydrophilic, absorbent, wicking, launderable, cleanable, durable, colorfast, printable, dimensionally stable, anti-pathogenic, and/or the like.

Transportation seat with release barrier fabrics

A composite fabric structure having unique visual and physical properties is described. The composite fabric includes a textile fabric layer having a visual surface and a rear surface. A layer of diffractive or retroreflective material is secured beneath the textile fabric layer, either directly or beneath a layer of substantially transparent material. The textile fabric layer is of an open or semi-transparent construction, so that light can pass through it to reach the layer of diffractive or retroreflective material and be reflected back through the layer of textile fabric, to provide a unique appearance to its visual surface. Because fabric constructions can be provided which are extremely conspicuous, they have particular utility in the formation of safety equipment and automobile components. Furthermore, the fabrics have high durability, improved hand, and in many embodiments can be stretched as well as molded.

Diffractive and retroreflective textile fabrics, methods of making same, and articles made therefrom

The present disclosure relates to an anti-fatigue flooring article having inherent properties of electrostatic dissipation. Further, this disclosure relates to flooring article having at least two layers, wherein a first layer (comprised of dense rubber) is calendered to a second layer (comprised of foam rubber). Each layer has a different electrical conductivity, thereby creating a mat having an appropriate range of conductivity when combined. The present flooring article may also include a layer of static dissipating scrim, a grounding means, and/or a colored marking.

Electrostatic dissipating flooring article

This invention relates to adhesion promotion compositions which provide excellent adhesive characteristics between rubber latices and flexible textile substrates. Such compositions comprise specific mixtures of capped isocyanates which react strongly and thoroughly with rubber latices to promote the adhesion of such latices to textile substrates. Such rubber latices provide the ability to increase the stretch characteristics of the target textile substrate while simultaneously permitting retention of a certain degree of rigidity. Such rubber/textile composites are useful within waistbands as they retain their stretch and rigidity very well even after repeated dry cleanings. The inventive adhesion promoter does not require the utilization of formaldehyde, reduces the amount of promoter needed to effectuate the proper adhesive characteristics, and substantially eliminates potential discolorations and swelling of the target textile substrate associated with standard formaldehyde-containing adhesion promoter compositions. The methods utilizing these particular adhesion promotion compositions as well as the target textile substrates themselves are also contemplated within this invention.
