An apparatus and method for reducing vibrational effects of track chain assembly catenary hang is disclosed. A work machine includes a pair of track roller assemblies one positioned on each side of the work machine. The vibration reducing apparatus and method includes repositioning undercarriage components to vary the catenary hang from one side of the work machine to the other.

Apparatus and method to reduce vibrations on a tracked work machine

A portable disassembly tool is provided to disassemble a track link assembly from a machine by removing opposed track links from the track link assembly. The portable disassembly tool includes first and second members that are tightly secured to the track link to be removed by a plurality of fasteners. The second member has clearance holes therein to freely receive the ends of the associated track pin assemblies. A third member having spacer members extending therefrom is disposed adjacent to the second member with the spacer members extending into the respective clearance holes into contact with the ends of the track pin assemblies and secured to the second member by a second plurality of fasteners. By alternately tightening the plurality of fasteners, the track link is pulled from the associated track pin assemblies. During the removal of the track link, binding in any direction is overcome.

Method and apparatus for disassembling a track chain

The present invention provides a portable machine for assembling a track for a track type work machine. A positioning block is provided for alignment of a pair of track pins that are to receive an outer track joint. A portable assembly tool having a pair of contact tools is adapted to receive a pair of outer track joints. The assembly tool is positioned over the positioning block and a hydraulic ram is extended to press each of the outer track links onto the track pins. The present invention is used with track assemblies that do not require master links.

Method and apparatus for installing links on an endless track chain

A master link for a track chain assembly is provided. The master link includes a body portion having first and second spaced apart apertures extending therethough. A gap extends radially outward from one of the first and second apertures. At least one fastener operatively engages an aperture that extends through the gap. As the fastener is secured the width of the gap is reduced thereby reducing the diameter of one of the first and second apertures providing a clamping force.

A cartridge assembly for a track chain assembly is provided. The cartridge assembly includes a bushing rotatably positioned about a track pin. Bearing members are positioned about the track pin adjacent the bushing. Collars are positioned about the track pin adjacent the bearing members. Seal arrangements are positioned between the collars and the bearing members and between the bearing members and the track bushing sealably excluding contaminants and the retention of a lubricating fluid from a passage in the bushing and a bore within the track pin.

The roller assembly also has a roller shaft having a first end portion which is positioned outside of the central passage of the roller rim and a second end portion which is positioned within the central passage of the roller rim. The second end portion of the roller shaft has an outwardly extending annular flange secured thereto. The outwardly extending annular flange of the roller shaft has a second diameter. The second diameter is greater than the first diameter. An undercarriage for a work machine is also disclosed.

An insert arrangement includes a ring member having (i) a first sidewall, (ii) a second sidewall, (iii) a bore defined therethrough, (iv) a first seal groove defined in the first sidewall, and (v) a second seal groove defined in the second sidewall. The insert arrangement also includes a bushing having (i) a passageway defined therethrough and (ii) a bushing end face. The bushing is positioned relative to the ring member so that (i) the passageway is linearly aligned with the bore and (ii) the first seal groove is located in an opposing relationship with the bushing end face. The insert arrangement further includes a link having an aperture defined therein. The link is positioned relative to the ring member so that the ring member is positioned within the aperture.

A cartridge assembly for a track chain assembly includes a bushing having a passageway defined therethrough. The cartridge assembly also includes track pin having a longitudinal axis. The track pin is located within the passageway so that a first end portion and a second end portion of the track pin extends outwardly from the passageway of the bushing. The cartridge assembly further includes a first insert having a first bore defined therethrough. The first insert is positioned relative to the track pin such that the first end portion of the track pin is disposed within the first bore. The cartridge assembly also includes a first collar having a first hole defined therein. The first collar is positioned relative to the track pin that (i) the first end portion of the track pin is disposed within the first hole and (ii) the first insert is interposed between the first collar and the bushing, wherein (i) the first collar is fixed in relation to the track pin such that first collar is unable to rotate relative to the track pin and (ii) the first insert is able to rotate relative to the first collar and the track pin around the longitudinal axis.

A track chain assembly includes a bushing having a passageway defined therethrough. The track chain assembly also includes a track pin having a longitudinal axis. The track pin is disposed within the passageway of the bushing. The track chain assembly further includes a first insert having a first bore defined therethrough. The first insert is positioned relative to the track pin such that the track pin is disposed within the first bore. The track pin assembly further includes a first inner link having a first aperture defined therein. The first inner link is positioned relative to the first insert such that the first insert is (i) located within the first aperture and (ii) interposed between the first inner link and the track pin. The track pin assembly also includes a first outer link having a second aperture defined therein. The first outer link is positioned relative to the track pin such that the track pin is disposed within the second aperture, wherein the first insert can rotate relative to the track pin, the bushing, and the first outer link around the longitudinal axis.

A roller assembly for an undercarriage of a work machine has a roller rim having central passage defined therein with (i) a first end of the central passage of the roller rim defining a first access opening, and (ii) a second end of the central passage of the roller rim defining a second access opening. The roller assembly also has a roller shaft having a first end portion which is positioned outside of the central passage of the roller rim and a second end portion which is positioned within the central passage of the roller rim, the second end portion of the roller shaft having an outwardly extending annular flange secured thereto. Yet further, the roller assembly has a retainer press fit into the second access opening. In addition, the roller assembly has an axial thrust bearing interposed between the outwardly extending annular flange of the roller shaft and the retainer. A method for manufacturing a roller assembly of an undercarriage assembly is also disclosed.
