An aerator or destratifier used in small bodies of water is provided with a sealed flotation chamber in which a motor is completely housed. A stationary shaft runs between the top and bottom surface of the flotation chamber onto which the motor is mounted. A plurality of paddles is externally affixed to the exterior surface of the flotation chamber. A V-belt, a chain or a gearing arrangement is provided between the motor and the internal surface of the flotation chamber which will enable the flotation chamber to constantly or intermittently rotate. The plurality of paddles would then agitate the body of water and allow oxygen to be dissolved therein.

The disclosed molecular excimer laser discharge tube employs a transverse ectrical discharge with a UV preionization. The discharge tube is made of pure quartz with two optical quality windows fused onto the two ends. The mechanical support and electrical feedthrough for the profiled molybdenum cathodes are provided by commercially available quartz molybdenum cup seals. The anode is made of perforated molybdenum sheet and is supported by slots formed in quartz plates. The preionization for the main discharge is generated from 'V' cuts provided in a molybdenum ribbon sealed in a quartz tube.

A multilayer high temperature, low inductance capacitor consisting of alternate layers of metal and dielectric insulator materials which are inert with respect to metal halide environments is directly affixed to a planar electrode of a high temperature metal halide laser system to improve laser performance.

A plurality of spaced-apart apertured discs constructed of electrical insulator material, are sealed within the quartz tube structure of a metal halide laser tube to increase the path length along the wall of the laser tube between the discharged electrodes to constrain the discharge to the central gaseous core rather than along the wall of the quartz tube. The use of electrical insulator apertured discs sealed with the laser tube of a metal halide laser facilitates the utilization of the halide species as the laser medium.

A double sealed technique in an evacuated quartz jacket produces an electrical feedthrough assembly suitable for use in sealed-off, pulse, longitudinal discharge lasers compatible with operating temperatures of up to 1100.degree. C. without oxidation and with a minimum of circuit inductance.

High power electrode and feedthrough assembly for high temperature lasers

A quartz laser tube for use with a metal, or metal halide, laser media employs a coaxial electrical connection in which a longitudinal discharge in the laser medium serves as the central conductor, and the ground return path is a cylindrical metal container which surrounds the laser discharge. This arrangement minimizes the circuit inductance for a given longitudinal discharge, and the outer metal cylinder serves both as a heat shield and a ground shield for reducing electrical noise radiation. Optical access in the longitudinal direction is provided by cylindrically-symmetrical electrode/window assemblies attached to either end of the quartz laser discharge tube.

Coaxial discharge sealed-off quartz laser tube

A system for preventing the free fall of the platen of a vertical molding machine in the event of failure of the connection between the drive rod and the platen. A hydraulic network is employed to enable the movement of the platen. The network employs a counterbalancing circuit to permit raising the rod and platen and for preventing the gravitational fall of the rod and platen. The operation of this hydraulic circuit is controlled by valves which transfer the hydraulic fluid between the two ends of the respective cylinders, and a storage tank (to store the difference in volume between the rod end and cap end of the respective cylinders). With fluid flowing from the cap end of cylinders to the rod end of said cylinders, the platen may descend. With fluid remaining in the cylinders, the piston and platen cannot descend without the fluid being transferred back to the other end of said cylinder by operation of an electrically controlled valving arrangement. A normally open (held closed by presence of the rod) switch is connected into the operating path of the valving network. The switch control mechanism senses the continued engagement of the rod and platen and opens on the release of this engagement to open the valve operating circuit and prevent descent of the ram and platen.
