An offshore platform rig cleaner consisting essentially of as major components d-limonene (5-7% actives by weight), a non-ionic surfactant selected from one member of the group consisting of ethoxylated octyl and nonyl phenol (15-21% actives), and an acrylic copolymer thickener (0.2 to 0.4%). The thickener may be preferably ethyl acrylate-methyacrylic acid. It has also been found that in the preparation of the cleaner the order of addition should be water then surfactant then d-limonene to avoid haze in the composition and to facilitate manufacture.

Offshore rig cleaner

The present invention provides a process for stabilizing iron oxides and iron hydroxides in produced oil field waters. A water soluble polymer containing pendant N-substituted amide functionality units is added at a rate of about 6 parts by weight polymer to 10 parts by weight iron in the produced water.

Method of controlling iron in produced oilfield waters

The concentration of a water soluble corrosion inhibitor formulation in the water of an aqueous system is monitored by a UV absorption method which is based upon the measurement of the absorbance of a component of corrosion inhibitor formulation. The method is particularly suited to on-site determinations of inhibitor residuals in large aqueous systems, such as in oil field applications, which have an acute need for rapid and adaptable assays, so as to provide precise information before corrosion damage can occur.

Ultraviolet spectrographic monitoring of water soluble corrosion

A aqueous oil well scale inhibiting composition is disclosed as well as a dispersion and scale inhibiting method. The inhibitor comprises a phosphate ester or phosphonate calcium carbonate inhibitor and a sulfonated alkyldiphenylether zinc and/or lead sulfide dispersant. The dispersion includes at least 1 ppm of effectively dispersed zinc and/or lead sulfide particulates up to a concentration of about 200 ppm or more.

The present invention is directed to a process for stabilizing iron hydr(oxide) in aqueous systems which comprises adding to an aqueous system in which the water contains or will contain soluble iron a polymer which contains pendant N-substituted amide functionality, including amide substituted with sulfoalkyl wherein the alkyl is of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, sulfophenyl, or such groups substituted further with (poly)hydroxy.

Stabilization of iron in aqueous systems

A composition suitable for cleaning and preventing the staining of toilet bowls is provided herein. This composition is made of low molecular weight water-soluble polyacrylate, a low molecular weight copolymer preferably a copolymer of an acrylamide and acrylic acid, and a binder. The composition may also optionally contain an inorganic salt, a surfactant, a dye and perfume. The composition is preferably in the form of a cake or pellet and added to the tank of a toilet so that the cleaning and stain-inhibiting ingredients are released into the toilet bowl upon each flush of the toilet. The invention also includes a method of cleaning and preventing the staining of a toilet bowl by the use of such composition.

Toilet bowl cleaner and stain-inhibiting composition

The present invention provdes an additive for reducing brightness loss upon pulp refining comprising in combination at least one anionic polymeric compound and at least one inorganic polymer, preferably such combinations wherein any of such anionic polymeric compounds are of low molecular weight. The preferred inorganic polyphosphates of such combination are those having average polymerization numbers of from about 10 to about 45. The weight proportion of inorganic polyphos-hate to anionic polymeric compound in such combination can be within the range of about 1:10::10:1. The present invention also provides pulp refining processes wherein such additive is added at a sufficient amount to the pulp material being refined to reduce brightness loss, such as at dosages of from about 0.0025 to about 0.5 weight percent additive actives to dry pulp, and end product pulps produced by such processes.

Iron oxide deposits which are found on heat transfer surfaces can be removed by first contacting these deposits with an aqueous solution of a hydrolyzable tanning extract such as sumach, valonea, or chestnut tannin which conditions the deposits and forms a complex thereof. The thus-formed complex is subsequently removed by treatment with dilute solutions of citric acid.
