A combination whipstock and seal bore diverter system includes a whipstock; and a diverter configured to receive and support the whipstock in a selected orientation, the system being installable in a single run in a borehole.

Combination whipstock and seal bore diverter system

A flow diverter tool assembly is employed for flushing debris from a portion of the bore of a subsea production tree. The flow diverter tool assembly has a housing having a passageway there-through and a seal disposed on an exterior surface of the housing. The seal contacts the inner wall surface of the bore of the production tree, dividing a lower portion of the bore below the seal from an upper portion of the bore above the seal. One or more outlets from the passageway through the exterior surface are disposed along the housing below the seal. A bypass device such as a slip-joint is disposed above the seal to facilitate removal of the flow diverter tool assembly from the bore of the production tree after its use.

Flow diverter tool assembly and methods of using same

A method and apparatus for running a whipstock into a well bore attached to a combination mill and drill bit, releasing the mill/bit from the whipstock, milling a window in the casing, and drilling a lateral well bore, all in one trip. The mill/bit is provided with a primary cutting structure better suited for milling through the casing, and a secondary cutting structure, better suited for drilling through the earth formation. The secondary cutting structure is initially smaller in diameter than the primary cutting structure. The whipstock can be attached to the mill/bit with a shear bolt supported by a boss on the whipstock, with the boss designed to arrest axial motion of the mill/bit after shearing of the bolt.

Window mill and drill bit

An apparatus and method for guiding a fish into engagement with a latch mechanism on a fishing tool, by expanding the ends of a set of fingers into contact with a bore hole. The ends of the fingers surround the fish and guide the fish and the latch mechanism together, as the tool is lowered, until the latch mechanism latches onto the fish.

Latch mechanism guide

A through tubing retrievable whipstock and installation method is disclosed. In the preferred embodiment, a plurality of anchor links pivot at one end and have wickers on an opposed rounded end. The links are configured to deliver an optimum contact angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the whipstock in a variety of casing sizes and weights. A lock ring system holds the set position and the upper end is hinged and biased to stay out of the way of the mill or mills and yet be easy to engage by a retrieving tool.

Small tubular window system

A downhole vibration tool consisting of a body assembly installed in a work string, and a drop-in dart valve assembly. An open inner bore through the body assembly allows the performance of operations through the body assembly. To activate the vibration tool, the dart valve assembly is dropped into the work string and pumped downhole into engagement with the body assembly. Once the dart valve assembly is in place in the body assembly, continued pumping of fluid will cause the tool to begin to vibrate longitudinally. When the jarring operation is finished, the dart valve assembly can be released from the body assembly and retrieved, with a wireline or coiled tubing unit.

Drop in dart activated downhole vibration tool

An apparatus and method for guiding a fish into engagement with a latch mechanism on a fishing tool, by hydraulically expanding the ends of a set of fingers into contact with a bore hole. The ends of the fingers surround the fish and guide the fish and the latch mechanism together, as the tool is lowered, until the latch mechanism latches onto the fish.

Well bore apparatus is installed in a well casing on a tubular string having a packer anchored in and forming a seal within the casing. In the tubing string above the packer is a safety valve structure held open by the pressure of fluid supplied through control fluid tubing extending to the top of the well between the exterior of the tubing string and the casing. A long tubing seal structure has a lock releasable by the pressure of fluid supplied through the tubing string. The tubing seal structure is released to enable the tubing string to move freely in either direction, in response to pressure and/or temperature changes, whereby tension and compression reversals are eliminated. The tubing string above the sealing receptacle can be pulled from above the packer and other downhole structures. The hydraulic release is operable by fluid pressure to release the receptacle for longitudinal movement relative to a long sealing slick joint.
