A valve press tool ( ) includes a C-shaped frame ( ) having an adjustable platen ( ) and an over-center lever device ( ) at opposite ends ( ) of the C-frame. Attached to the over-center device is a pressure plate ( ) to which is attached three legs ( ) having non-skid ends ( ). The pressure plate and legs are located directly opposite each other so that valve components ( ) to be serviced may be placed into compression for disassembly. The platen is adjustable by means of an attached threaded rod ( ) that threads into a threaded receiver ( ) on one end of the C-frame. This adjustability allows the press tool to be used on various valves having different dimensions and heights.

Valve press tool

A cushioning mattress is provided to normalize and distribute the weight of a patient's body to reduce the tangential forces bearing on the skin of the patient. The cushioning mattress comprises a top surface, a bottom surface and a series of alternating 'tunnel' billows and 'loop' billows. Each tunnel billow comprises a separate piece of material affixed to the top or bottom surface along two parallel seams to define a wide-based closed cell. Each loop billow comprises a separate piece of material affixed to the top or bottom surface along a single seam to define a narrow-based closed. Each tunnel and loop billow contains a visco-elastic material capable of conforming to any surface which it engages. The volume of the visco-elastic material contained in each loop billow is lesser than the volume contained in each tunnel billow such that the flowability of the material in each loop billow is greater than that of each tunnel billow, thereby permitting the upper surface of the mattress defined by the loop billows to engage and be adjacent the patient's skin to equalize the pressure bearing thereagainst.

A single-chambered static pressure device and method for supporting and protecting a human lower extremity and for normalizing the pressure and forces acting thereon includes an inflatable wrap or boot-like device having a single internal air chamber and including an interior plastic sheet and an exterior plastic sheet joined peripherally together forming said air chamber therebetween, a nozzle valve for admitting air into the air chamber, and fasteners for releasably securing the inflatable device about the lower extremity. The plastics sheets forming the single air chamber have a plurality of aligned openings extending therethrough and the sheets are joined about the circumference of each hole for providing heat and moisture dissipation, ventilation and visibility therethrough. The device is disposed in an underinflated state about the lower extremity to allow the interior surface of the device to engage and conform to the contour of said lower limb during inflation to normalize the pressure applied to the extremity at the interface between the device and the surface of the lower extremity to prevent and better manage pressure sores and other lower extremity pathologies.
