An extravascular nerve cuff that is configured to hold a leadless, integral, implantable microstimulator. The nerve cuff may include a cuff body having a pocket or pouch for removably receiving the implantable device within. The nerve cuff can be secured around the nerve such that the electrodes of the device are stably positioned relative to the nerve. Furthermore, the nerve cuff drives the majority of the current from the stimulation device into the nerve, while shielding surrounding tissues from unwanted stimulation.

A system includes a control unit configured to be worn by a subject, and having a wireless transceiver configured to receive and transmit signals and a processor coupled to a memory, at least one respiratory volume sensor mountable to the chest or abdomen of the subject and at least one secondary sensor mountable relative to the subject. The respiratory volume sensor is configured to operably generate one or more volumetric signals representative of a respiratory volume of the subject and communicate the one or more volumetric signals to the wireless transceiver of the control unit. The at least one secondary sensor is configured to operably generate one or more secondary signals and representative of at least one of a physiological, a cardiopulmonary or a metabolic condition of the subject, and communicate the one or more secondary signals to the wireless transceiver of the control unit.

Monitoring glucose concentration in aqueous humor can include inserting an implantable device into an eye and determining glucose concentration as a function of glucose sensed at the implantable device. In some implantable device embodiments, the device includes a polymer layer comprising a material that changes volume in response to varying glucose concentrations of the aqueous humor. A pressure sensor in the device can detect the changes in volume. In some implantable device embodiments, the device includes electrodes for determining the glucose concentration.
