An antenna system for use with one or more media devices is provided. The antenna system includes a plurality of antenna elements. Each antenna element is associated with an independent feed element. In addition each antenna element is configured to receive a plurality of radio frequency (RF) signals. Each RF signal can be associated with a UHF band or a VHF band. The antenna system can include at least one tuner and at least one switching device. The at least one switching device can be configured to selectively couple the at least one tuner to one antenna element of the plurality of antenna elements based, at least in part, on channel selection data associated with the at least one tuner.

VHF-UHF antenna system with feedback

An active antenna for UHF/VHF signal receiving is described, the active antenna being capable of configuration in one of a plurality of possible modes. The active antenna includes an antenna element configured for multiple resonances in the UHF/VHF bands, and capable of generating multiple radiation modes as well as active impedance matching using a microprocessor and multi-port switch having variable or multiple selectable modes. The active antenna may include a second antenna element arranged in a right-angle orientation with respect to the first antenna element. The first antenna element, second antenna element, or a combination may be selected for receiving signals in at a desired frequency. A three-dimensional antenna assembly is also described. Each of the examples illustrate an active beam steering antenna capable of UHF/VHF signal receiving.

Active UHF/VHF antenna

A multi-frequency antenna comprising an IMD element, one or more active tuning elements and one or more parasitic elements. The IMD element is used in combination with the active tuning and parasitic elements for enabling a variable frequency at which the antenna operates, wherein, when excited, the parasitic elements may couple with the IMD element to change an operating characteristic of the IMD element.

Antenna with active elements

An antenna includes one or more antenna elements and a volume of material contained at least partly within a volume of the one or more antenna elements. The volume of material has at least one electromagnetic property that is different from free space. The volume of material may include dielectric material and/or ferrite material. The antenna elements may be isolated magnetic dipole (IMD) antenna elements. The electromagnetic property may be permeability and/or permittivity.

Antenna with volume of material

A multi-frequency antenna comprising an IMD element, active tuning elements and parasitic elements. The IMD element is used in combination with the active tuning and parasitic elements for enabling a variable frequency at which the antenna operates, wherein, when excited, the parasitic elements may couple with the IMD element to change an operating characteristic of the IMD element.

A multi-layer isolated magnetic dipole (IMD) with improved bandwidth and efficiency characteristics to be used in wireless communications and other applicable systems. The multi-layer IMD antenna comprises an IMD element positioned above a ground plane, a conductive element positioned above a ground plane and coupled to the first portion having one or more slot regions being defined between the IMD element and the conductive element and one or more capacitive elements positioned across the one or more slot regions. The range of frequencies covered to be determined by the shape, size, and number of elements in the physical configuration of the components.

Multi-layer isolated magnetic dipole antenna

An antenna configured for low frequency applications on a mobile device includes an antenna element coupled to a conductive structure which, in turn, is coupled to the user of the mobile device such that the user of the mobile device effectively becomes part of the antenna. The conductive structure can include, for example, the device housing being made from a conductive material, a conductive structure embedded inside the device housing, or conductive pads exposed in the device housing. The antenna element is electrically connected to the conductive structure and the user can be coupled to the conductive structure either through direct contact or through capacitive coupling. In addition, the antenna can include an active element configured to boost free space operation efficiency. The active element can include, for example, a low noise amplifier integrated onto a low noise amplifier board. The active element can be at least partially surrounded by a hollow support structure around which an antenna coil is wrapped, where the antenna coil is coupled to the active element. Furthermore, one or more antenna coils can be utilized either separately or in conjunction with the antenna for low frequency applications, where the one or more antenna coils can have integrated therein inductive components and/or active/switching elements that allow the one or more antenna coils to be tuned to a desired frequency.

Antenna configured for low frequency applications

An antenna includes a core formed of a high-permeability material and a coil wire wrapped around at least a part of the core. In one embodiment, the high-permeability material includes ferrite material.

Low frequency antenna

An antenna configured for low frequency applications on a mobile device includes an antenna element coupled to a conductive structure which, in turn, is coupled to the user of the mobile device such that the user of the mobile device effectively becomes part of the antenna. The conductive structure can include, for example, the device housing being made from a conductive material, a conductive structure embedded inside the device housing, or conductive pads exposed in the device housing. The antenna element is electrically connected to the conductive structure and the user can be coupled to the conductive structure either through direct contact or through capacitive coupling.
