Medication delivery devices, sensing systems, and methods are disclosed for determining the relative axial and rotational movements of its members to determine the amount of a dose set and/or delivered by the medication delivery device. A sensing system comprises a barrel sensor system, a drive sleeve sensor system, and/or an axial sensor system. The barrel sensor system is for detecting the absolute relative angular position of the barrel relative to the housing during dose setting. The drive sleeve sensor system is for detecting the absolute relative angular position of the drive sleeve relative to the housing during dose delivery. The axial sensor system is for detecting the relative axial positions of the dose dial relative to the housing during dose setting and delivery. A controller receives outputs from the sensor systems corresponding to the absolute relative positions to determine the actual amounts of dose set and delivered.

Dose sensing mechanism in a medication delivery device

Dose detection systems for medication delivery devices are described. One is a module for removable attachment to a dose button of a medication delivery device. A device with a dose detection system is also disclosed. The module includes a processor and at least one measurement sensor operably coupled to the processor and configured to detect the positon of a sensed component within the delivery device. Medication identification system may also be provided with an identification sensor and a light guide member.

The present disclosure relates to a method of administering a medication with a dose detection system in combination with a medication delivery device. In one aspect, the system includes a module body adapted to be removably attached to the actuator of a medication delivery device, and a plurality of magnetic sensing elements attached to said module body. The system detects the amount of rotation of a magnetic ring of said one or more dipoles of a medication delivery device relative to the magnetic sensing elements during dose delivery when the module is attached to the device.

The dose detection system may include a dosing component attached to an actuator and rotationally and axially moveable relative to a coupling component attached to a dose setting member. The light source is configured to emit light into a barrel wall of the fluid container so that the barrel wall serves as a waveguide to guide the light to travel therein in an axial direction. The light detector is positioned to detect reflected light that was emitted by the light source, traveled through the barrel wall serving as the waveguide, and then reflected off a surface of the plunger. The controller is in communication with the light detector to determine an axial position of the plunger surface based on data from the light detector of the detected reflected light.

A hand-held test meter for use with an analytical test strip in the determination of an analyte in a bodily fluid sample includes a housing, a clock module disposed in the housing, a micro-controller disposed in the housing, a low-distortion signal generation circuit block ('LDSGCB') disposed in the housing, and a strip port connector configured to operationally receive the analytical test strip. The LDSGCB includes a signal summation circuit ('SSC') sub-block, a resistance-capacitance (RC) filter, and a single operational amplifier. The clock module and micro-controller are configured to generate phase-shifted square wave signals and output the phase-shifted square wave signals to the SSC. The SSC is configured to sum the phase-shifted square wave signals to generate a resultant summed-wave signal and output the resultant summed-wave signal to the RC filter. The RC filter is configured to filter harmonics from the resultant summed-wave signal thereby creating a reduced harmonic distortion signal.

Using the stored dummy magnitude correction and stored dummy phase correction, an analyte is determined.
