An assembly is provided for rotational equipment. This assembly includes a seal device, a ring structure and a fastener. The seal device includes a plurality of seal shoes, a seal base, a plurality of spring elements and a fastener aperture extending axially through the seal device. The seal shoes are arranged around a centerline in an annular array. The seal shoes include a first seal shoe. The seal base circumscribes the annular array. The spring elements include a first spring element. The first spring element connects and extends between the first seal shoe and the seal base. The ring structure is axially adjacent the seal device. The fastener is mated with the fastener aperture and abutted axially against the ring structure.

Non-contact seal with seal device axial locator(s)

An assembly is provided for rotational equipment. This assembly includes a seal device, a ring structure and a fastener. The seal device includes a plurality of seal shoes, a seal base and a plurality of spring elements. The seal shoes are arranged around a centerline in an annular array. The seal shoes include a first seal shoe. The seal base circumscribes the annular array. The spring elements include a first spring element. The first spring element connects and extends between the first seal shoe and the base. The ring structure is axially adjacent the seal device. The ring structure includes a fastener aperture extending axially through the ring structure. The fastener is mated with the fastener aperture and abutted axially against the seal device.

A seal for a gas turbine engine includes a full hoop outer ring, a shoe coupled to the full hoop outer ring via an inner beam and an outer beam, and a wave spring in contact with at least one of the inner beam or the outer beam.

Non-contacting dynamic seal

A seal support structure is provided for a circumferential seal. In one embodiment, the seal support structure includes an engine support structure, a seal support, and a shoulder joining the engine support and seal support. The shoulder offsets the engine support from the seal support, and the shoulder and the seal support structure are configured to dampen vibration for the circumferential seal. The seal support structure may employ one or more dampening elements or materials to interoperate with a seal support structure to dampen vibration to a seal system.

Seal support structure for a circumferential seal of a gas turbine engine

A seal ring system is provided. The seal ring system comprises a segment defining a slot, a pedal along the slot, and an opening offset from the slot. A retention fastener may be disposed in the opening. A seal ring system is also provided comprising a first segment defining a first opening, a second segment defining a second opening, and a retention fastener extending through the first and second openings. The retention fastener configured to allow relative radial movement of the first segment and the second segment. A seal is further provided comprising a seal ring having a central axis, a petal extending radially inward with respect to the central axis of the seal ring, and a sealing disk axially proximate the seal ring. The sealing disk may have a seal shoe configured as a primary seal. The petal may extend toward the seal shoe.

A balancing assembly for a rotating component of a gas turbine engine includes a balance weight configured for insertion into a complimentary balance weight slot in the rotating component. The balance weight has a dovetail shaped cross-section and the balance weight slot has a complimentary dovetail shaped cross-section. A retaining ring configured for installation to the rotating component axially retains the balance weight in the balance weight slot. A method of correcting an imbalance of a rotating assembly includes inserting a balance weight into a balance weight slot in a rotating component of the rotating assembly, and installing a retaining ring at the rotating component to retain the balance weight in the balance weight slot in an axial direction. The balance weight has a dovetail shaped cross section, and the balance weight slot has a complimentary dovetail shaped cross section to retain the balance weight at the balance weight slot.

Non-contacting dynamic seals having wave springs are disclosed herein. A non-contacting dynamic seal may have a shoe coupled to an outer ring by an inner beam and an outer beam. A wave spring may be located between the inner beam and the outer beam, between the shoe and the inner beam, or between the outer beam and the outer ring. The wave spring may damp vibrations in the inner beam and the outer beam.

A component retaining assembly includes a housing including a circumferential slot. A component is mated to the housing. The component includes a first face including at least two tabs. The at least two tabs extending at outward from the first face at least partially past a portion of the circumferential slot. A retaining ring is disposed within the circumferential slot and abuts the first face of the component. The at least two tabs overlap a portion of the retaining ring. A gas turbine engine and a method are also disclosed.

An assembly for rotational equipment includes a plurality of seal shoes, a seal base, a plurality of spring elements and a frangible element. The seal shoes are arranged around an axis in an annular array. The seal base circumscribes the annular array of the seal shoes. Each of the spring elements is radially between and connects a respective one of the seal shoes and the seal base. A first of the spring elements includes a first mount, a second mount and a spring beam. The first mount is connected to a first of the seal shoes. The second mount is connected to the seal base. The spring beam extends longitudinally between and connects the first mount and the second mount. The frangible element is configured to restrict radial outward movement of the first of the seal shoes.

An anti-rotation assembly may include a first shaft, a second shaft, and a locking sprocket. The first shaft may have a first crenelated end rim, the second shaft may have a second crenelated end rim, and the locking sprocket may be configured to engage the first crenelated end rim and the second crenelated end rim to anti-rotatably couple the first shaft to the second shaft. That is, the locking sprocket may be configured to prevent relative rotation between the two shafts. The anti-rotation assembly may further include an axial retaining ring configured to axially retain the locking sprocket.

Aspects of the disclosure are directed to a floating, non-contact seal comprising: a shoe, and at least three beams, each beam having a first axial end and a second axial end, where the first axial ends are coupled to the shoe and the second axial ends are coupled to a ring structure. Aspects of the disclosure are directed to an engine comprising: a first structure, a second structure configured to rotate relative to the first structure, and a floating, non-contact seal that interfaces the first structure and the second structure, where the seal includes: a shoe, and at least three beams, where each beam has a first axial end and a second axial end, where the first axial ends are coupled to the shoe and the second axial ends are coupled to a ring structure.

An intershaft seal assembly that is between a first shaft and a second shaft of a bearing compartment of an engine includes a first seal element and a retaining element. The first seal element surrounds the first shaft and includes a first portion is in contact with the first shaft and a second portion extending in a non-parallel direction to a radial direction of the first shaft. The retaining element is threadably engaged with the first shaft such that the retaining element presses the first seal element against the shoulder of the first shaft.

Deflection spring seal

The present disclosure relates to sealing systems for gas turbine engines. In one embodiment, a seal support structure for a gas turbine engine includes a seal support configured to retain a circumferential seal and an engine support configured for mounting the seal support structure to a gas turbine engine mount. The engine support includes at least one channel configured to provide radial movement of the seal support structure and circumferential retention of the seal support. Another embodiment is directed to a sealing system including a circumferential seal and seal support structure configured to provide radial movement.
