Aspects of the present invention relate to an active diffuser mechanism for a vehicle comprising a mounting mechanism for connecting a diffuser body to a body of a vehicle such that the diffuser body is moveable between a stowed position and a deployed position in which an airflow surface of the diffuser body is spaced further away from the body of the vehicle than in the stowed position. The mounting mechanism comprises a linkage mechanism configured such that the diffuser body follows a linear translation path and a rotational path during movement from the stowed position to the deployed position. Aspects of the present invention also related to an active diffuser assembly, an active diffuser system and a vehicle comprising such an active diffuser mechanism.

Active diffuser mechanism

An aerodynamic apparatus () for a vehicle (), the aerodynamic apparatus comprising: a bonnet () having a leading edge () and a trailing edge (); a bonnet spoiler () having a leading edge () and a trailing edge (), and being positionable vertically above the bonnet () and separated therefrom to form an airflow duct () therebetween; and a grille () comprising a trailing edge () and a front face separated by a curved upper portion (), wherein the trailing edge () of the grille () is positionable adjacent to the leading edge () of the bonnet ().

Aerodynamic apparatus

A vehicle having a first lateral diffuser provided on a first side of the vehicle and a second lateral diffuser provided on a second side of the vehicle. The first and second lateral diffusers are movably mounted and can be displaced from a retracted position to at least a first deployed position.

Vehicle aerodynamic apparatus

A vehicle having a transverse panel and a transverse aerodynamic member, and a control unit. The transverse aerodynamic member is movable to an operating position in which it is spaced apart from the transverse panel. In that operating position, the transverse aerodynamic member is operable to direct airflow downwardly at the rear of the vehicle to control the vertical propagation of the wake formed behind the vehicle.
