A process of manufacturing a free-flowing solid encapsulated drag reducing additive comprises: forming a solid drag reducing additive from one or more Colefin monomers; dispersing the solid drag reducing additive in a liquid medium to form a dispersion, the liquid medium comprising an encapsulant and a non-solvent; grinding the solid drag reducing additive in the liquid medium under non-cryogenic grinding conditions to form an encapsulated drag reducing additive in a particulate form; and removing the non-solvent by a drying technique including spray drying, flash drying, or rotating disc drying to form the free-flowing solid encapsulated drag reducing additive.

Free-flowing solid encapsulated drag reducing additives

A method for scavenging hydrogen sulfide by introducing to a hydrogen sulfide contaminated fluid an additive comprising a zinc carboxylate complex and a viscosity improver selected from the group consisting of glycol ethers having from about 4 to about 10 carbons, alkyl alcohols having from about 1 to about 10 carbons, and combinations thereof.

Low viscosity metal-based hydrogen sulfide scavengers

A composition useful for scavenging hydrogen sulfide by admixing metal carboxylates which have high viscosity due to polymerization and a viscosity improver selected from the group consisting of glycol ethers having from about 4 to about 10 carbons and alkyl alcohols having from about 1 to about 4 carbons.

Hydrocarbon streams, such as crude oil streams, may have reduced drag when an effective amount to reduce drag of a drag reducing composition is added to a liquid hydrocarbon, where the drag reducing composition includes a drag reducing latex comprising at least one plasticizer in an amount effective to improve the ability to pump the latex into a hydrocarbon composition or stream with assured flow of the latex. Latex formulations are known to cause agglomerated particles during pumping operations, and the agglomerated hard particles tend to plug check valves in injection pump equipment, but the inclusion of at least one plasticizer reduces or prevents such problems.

The concentration of hydrogen sulfide in a hydrocarbon can be mitigated by intruding therein a zinc carboxylate oxo complex composition prepared by reacting particulate zinc oxide with a mixture of two or more carboxylic acids wherein the zinc carboxylate oxo complex composition is soluble in hydrocarbons. Useful acids useful include acetic acid, oleic acid, isobutyric acid, lineoleic acid, cekanoic acid, and neodecanoic acid.

Oil soluble hydrogen sulfide scavenger

Additives may be used to decrease the viscosity of heavy residual hydrocarbons. The additives are prepared using a formulation comprising: a first component selected from the group consisting of (alkoxylated)-(di or tri)-alkyl phenol-aldehyde (amine) resins; &#x3b1;-Olefin-maleic anhydride co-polymers and grafted polymers including half ester/amide and full ester/amide derivatives; and combinations thereof; and a second component which is a synergist and selected from the group consisting of polyamines, amidoamines, imidazolines, and combinations thereof.
