A device for determining and displaying a dose of a medicament to be administered to a user based, at least in part, on a measure of physical activity of the user described herein includes a determining unit configured determine a measure of physical activity of the user using information provided by one or more sensors. The device also includes a computer readable memory storing a set of predefined templates comprising predefined actions, rules, and parameters defining at least an initial medicament dose value, the measure of physical activity of the user, a time elapsed between an instance of physical activity and a current time, and a target blood glucose value, wherein the determining unit is further configured to determine the medicament dose based, at least in part, on the measure of physical activity of the user, by execution of one or more templates from the set of predefined templates.

Calculating a medicament dose

Within examples, an apparatus for eliciting a blood sample includes a testing member rotatably mounted on a shaft; and an aperture for positioning a body part of the user relative to the edge of the testing member, wherein an edge of the testing member is shaped such as repeatedly to exert pressure on the skin of a user when the testing member is rotated.

A meter configured to perform a blood analysis is presented where the meter has a housing, the housing having an aperture configured to receive a body part of a user. The meter also having a plurality of light sources supported by the housing and a controller configured to control the plurality of light sources to indicate an operational status of the apparatus.

An apparatus for detecting presence of a blood sample is presented where the apparatus has a housing having an aperture that can receive a user's body part such that a camera in the housing can capture images of the user's body part. A processor, also in the housing, controls operation of the camera receive and determines from the captured images whether a predetermined quantity of blood is present on the surface of the user's body part.

Detecting a blood sample

An apparatus and a method for measuring a property of a blood sample is shown. The apparatus comprises of a housing having an aperture; a shaft mounted inside the housing; a testing member rotatably mounted on the shaft; an actuating member coupled to the housing and configured to exert a force against the testing member; and a lancet for eliciting a blood sample fixedly coupled to and protruding substantially radially from the testing member and configured to co-rotate with the testing member. The apparatus is further configured such that the lancet is aligned with the aperture in the housing when the testing member is in a first position. The testing member is configured, in the presence of a force exerted against the testing member by the actuator member, to translate to a second position in which the lancet is in a skin penetrating position.

Allowing measurements to be made of a blood sample

Apparatus for allowing measurements to be made of a blood sample comprises a shaft and at least first and second blood collection members. The blood collection members are independently rotatable about the shaft. Each blood collection member includes: a blood analysis part for receiving a blood sample, plural conductive contacts, and plural conductors extending between the blood analysis part and respective ones of the conductive contacts. The apparatus also includes plural terminals configured to provide an electrical connection with the plural conductive contacts on a first member when the apparatus is in a first configuration and to provide an electrical connection with the plural conductive contacts on a second member when the apparatus is in a second configuration, thereby allowing successive measurements of at least one parameter of blood samples provided on the blood analysis parts of the first and second members.

Apparatus includes: a housing, the housing having an aperture; a shaft; and plural blood sample collection members supported on the shaft. The apparatus is constructed such that different ones of the plural blood sample collection members are able to be presented at the aperture in turn. Each of the blood sample collection members may be independently rotatable about the shaft.

Blood sample collection

A testing member for eliciting blood samples is provided that can be rotatably mounted inside a cartridge and having a lancet for lancing a body part of a user. The lancet can protrude from an edge of the testing member. The testing member also can have a second blood collection part, and second contact pads, where the second contact pads being electrically connected to the second blood collection part, the second blood collection part and second contact pads together being configured to facilitate an analysis of the quantity of blood in a first blood sample in the second blood collection part. A blood analysis part and first contact pads can be included, where the first contact pads are electrically connected to the blood analysis part, the blood analysis part and first contact pads together being configured to facilitate an analysis of a second blood sample in the blood analysis part.

Testing member for eliciting a blood sample

The specification describes a cartridge for insertion into a meter, the interior of the meter comprising a boss having a main body and a protrusion extending from the main body. The cartridge comprises an orientation member provided at one end of the cartridge, the orientation member comprising a recess having a cross-sectional shape corresponding to that of the boss and configured to receive the boss therein, the orientation member further comprising a ramp surrounding at least part of the portion of the recess corresponding to the main body, the portion of the recess which corresponds to the protrusion adjoining the lower end of the ramp via a step.
