The remote monitoring device includes a housing configured to be positioned outside of the AED such that audio sounds from the AED can be detected. The housing contains at least one processor, a communications module, a first audio sensor, a first audio detection circuitry, a second audio sensor, and a second audio detection circuitry. The communications module is operably connected to the at least one processor and configured to transmit electronic communications to the monitoring service via the communications network. The at least one processor powers on in response to the wakeup notification signal, processes digital audio signals, and transmits a signal to the monitoring service to report a condition of the AED.

A therapy management development platform includes a pump controller coupled to an interface module. The interface module includes an interface module controller and a module-sensor input/output interface including at least one standardized input port, output port and power connection. The interface module is also customizably programmed to receive data from a sensor and to provide instructions to the pump controller to vary the operation of a pump coupled thereto according to one of a plurality of levels of functionality. Upon receipt of an indication of approval from a remote computer to change the level of access to the functionality of the platform, the interface module may be customizably programmed to receive different data from the sensor, to provide different instructions to the pump controller, or both, the approval corresponding to a stage in testing of a medical device.

An intravenous ('IV') liquid delivery system includes: an IV pump tubing set; a shuttle pump or membrane pump actuator operable with the IV pump tubing set; upstream and downstream valve actuators operable with the IV pump tubing set; the IV pump tubing set including an air removal device; an air detector configured to sense air in the IV pump tubing set; a control unit configured and arranged to (i) open the upstream valve actuator and close the downstream valve actuator to allow the pump actuator to draw liquid into a pump actuation portion of the IV pump tubing set, and (ii) close the upstream valve actuator and open the downstream valve actuator to allow the pump actuator to push liquid out of the pump actuation portion, the system configured to attempt to remove the air via the air removal device while operating the upstream and downstream valve actuators according to (i) and (ii).

A battery management method for one or more batteries in a healthcare delivery system is provided. The method includes determining when the healthcare delivery system is drawing power from the one or more batteries and controlling a display unit coupled to the controller to display an initial number corresponding to a time remaining on battery (TROB) when the healthcare delivery system is drawing power from the one or more batteries. The method also includes determining if the TROB is within a reserve range extending up to a reserve range maximum that is less than a maximum TROB, changing the TROB according to an operational state of the healthcare delivery system if the TROB is greater than the reserve range maximum, and decreasing the TROB to count down the TROB without regard for the operational state of the healthcare delivery system if the TROB is less than the reserve range maximum.

Battery management system

A method of alerting a user to a potential unintended bolus delivery includes delivering fluid to a patient along a first fluid flow path. The method also includes transmitting a signal prior to initiation of a change in fluid delivery to the patient along a second fluid flow path connected to the first fluid flow path upstream of the patient, and detecting the signal. The method further includes actuating an alarm to alert the user to a potential unintended bolus delivery if the signal is detected. A system for carrying out the method is also provided.

A battery management system is provided for one or more batteries. The system includes a display unit, and a controller coupled to the display unit and programmed to determine when a healthcare delivery system is coupled to the one or more batteries, to control the display unit to display an initial number corresponding to a time remaining on battery (TROB) when the healthcare delivery system is coupled to the one or more batteries, to determine if the TROB is within a reserve range extending up to a reserve range maximum, the reserve range maximum being less than a maximum TROB, to change the TROB according to an operational state of the healthcare delivery system if the TROB is greater than the reserve range maximum, and to decrease the TROB without regard for the operational state of the healthcare delivery system if the TROB is less than the reserve range maximum.

A method of providing therapy management development includes providing a therapy management development platform having a plurality of levels of functionality, the platform including a medical device capable of providing therapy management, setting the platform to a first level of access to the functionality relative to the medical device, and modifying the operation of the medical device using the platform. The method also includes receiving an indication of approval to change the level of access to the functionality of the platform to a second level of access, and setting the platform to the second level of access to the functionality of the platform in response to receipt of the indication of approval. The platform is also provided.
