Provided is a tape including a composition having a copolyester including polymeric units derived from ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid or a diester thereof and &#x3e;0.50 and &#x3c;5.00 wt % of polymeric units with regard to the total weight of the polyester derived from an oligomeric dihydroxy compound having a number average molecular weight of &#x3e;500 g/mol and &#x3c;5000 g/mol. Such tape has an improved tensile-impact strength and a reduced proneness to splitting during weaving.

The invention is directed to a composition comprising 90.00 to 99.95 wt % of a polyolefin and 0.05 to 10.00 weight % of an antimicrobial additive based on the total weight of the polyolefin composition wherein the antimicrobial additive comprises a phenolic group and wherein a carrier for the antimicrobial additive is present. The antimicrobial additive may be dispersed through the polyolefin composition. Preferred antimicrobial additives include for example eugenol, isoeugenol, thymol, carvacrol, sesamol, curcumin, p-hydroxybenzoic acid, gallic acid and its ester derivatives (propyl gallate, octyl gallate and dodecyl gallate), ferulic acid, syringic acid, coumaric acid, protocatechuic acid, caffeic acid and/or tannic acid.

A thermally insulated structural member for a door or window includes a metal frame and a plastic insulation bar. The plastic insulation bar is formed from a thermoplastic composition that includes about 55 to about 95 weight percent of a compatibilized polyamide-poly(arylene ether) composition, and about 5 to about 45 weight percent of hollow glass beads. The hollow glass beads used in the thermoplastic composition have a volume-average diameter of about 20 to about 60 micrometers, a true density of about 0.3 to about 0.5 grams per milliliter, and an isostatic crush strength of about 30 to about 60 megapascals. The thermoplastic composition includes less than 5 weight percent of fibrous reinforcement. The thermally insulated structural member provides improved thermal insulation compared to structural member utilizing fiberglass-reinforced plastic insulation bars.
