Embodiments of monolayer and multilayer films which provide an improved matte surface are disclosed. The monolayer film or an outer layer of the multilayer films comprise greater than 50% by weight of a first polyethylene having a density of at least 0.935 g/cmand a melt index (I) of 0.9 g/10 minutes or less, and less than 50% by weight of a second polyethylene having a density less 0.935 g/cmand a melt index (I) of 20 g/10 minutes or less, wherein the film exhibits an external gloss of less than 20 units when measured at 45 according to ASTM D2457 and a haze greater than 60% when measured according to ASTM D1003.

Polyethylene films with matte surface

The present invention relates to film structure suitable for use in stand up pouches comprising all polyethylene material. The film structure can be a monolayer film or a multilayer film structure having specific requirements for each layer. The combination results in a film structure having adequate stiffness to function as a stand-up pouch while also providing acceptable water vapor transmission rates and good tear resistance. Such films have improved sustainability characteristics as they should permit down-gauging of the films and, can more easily be recycled, at least for the preferred embodiment comprising only polyethylene resins.
