An electronic system for multimodal diagnostic measurements and therapeutic interventions includes a plurality of element network layers vertically stacked one with another on a flexible substrate, each element network layer being bi-axially stretchable and comprising a plurality of elements configured in an addressable, interconnected array formed in a multilayered structure and operably performing a distinct function. The electronic system is a multimodal, multiplexed soft electronic system in a multilayered configuration that supports capabilities ranging from high-density spatiotemporal mapping of temperature, pressure and electrophysiological parameters, to options in programmable high-density actuation of thermal inputs and/or electrical stimulation, drug elution, radio frequency ablation, and/or irreversible electroporation ablation.

This invention discloses a sensor for measuring parameters of sweat from a skin, comprising a flexible structure comprising a fluid passage having inlet and outlet, the flexible structure being detachably attached to the skin and configured such that sweat enters the inlet as the sweat releases from the skin and flows through the fluid passage into the outlet; a thermal actuator disposed on the flexible structure over the fluid passage and configured to operably provide heat to flow of the sweat through the fluid passage; a first thermistor disposed on the flexible structure over the fluid passage between the inlet and the thermal actuator and configured to operably measure a first temperature of the sweat thereon; and a second thermistor disposed on the flexible structure over the fluid passage between the thermal actuator and the outlet and configured to operably measure a second temperature of the sweat thereon.

Systems and methods for wireless, real-time monitoring parameters of sweat and applications of same

A perspiration sensing system includes a sensor patch and a smart device. The sensor patch includes one or more perspiration sensing portions. The one or more perspiration sensing portions include an inlet having a predefined size to receive perspiration from a predefined number of sweat glands and an outlet for reducing back pressure. At least one perspiration sensing portion includes a channel having a colorimetric sensing material that changes color when exposed to perspiration. At least one perspiration sensing portion includes a colorimetric assay in a substrate that changes color when exposed to biochemical components of perspiration. The system further includes a smart device having a camera that can take a picture of the sensor patch and determine the volume, rate of perspiration, and/or biochemical components of the perspiration from the one or more perspiration sensing portions.

Method and system for measuring perspiration

The provided systems, methods and devices describe lightweight, wireless tissue monitoring devices that are capable of establishing conformal contact due to the flexibility or bendability of the device. The described systems and devices are useful, for example, for skin-mounted intraoperative monitoring of nerve-muscle activity. A wearable biofluid volume and composition system includes a microfluidic flexible fluid capture substrate having a microfluidic channel configured as a sweat collection channel and is configured to be worn on a human body and to collect and analyze biofluid. The microfluidic flexible fluid capture substrate further has a plurality of conductive traces and electrodes. An electronic module is attached to the microfluidic flexible fluid capture substrate and is configured to measure and analyze data from the biofluid collected by the microfluidic flexible fluid capture substrate and to transmit the analyzed data to a smart device.

A sweat sensing device includes a flexible body having a first, outwardly facing surface and a second, skin facing surface and a sweat channel formed in the body, the sweat channel having a first end defining a fluid inlet and a second end. A biochemical assay well formed in the sweat channel and an assay material is disposed in the biochemical assay well, the assay material positioned to react with sweat traveling through the sweat channel and to provide one of a visual indicator and an indicator detectable by a camera and connected processor of the flow of the sweat in the sweat channel.

An electronic device worn on a user includes one or more accelerometers. The one or more accelerometers generate acceleration information based on acceleration experienced by the electronic device. The electronic device further includes a processor and one or more associated memories, and the one or more associate memories include computer program code executable by the processor. The processor, configured by the computer program code, causes the electronic device to process the acceleration information to extract features from the acceleration information. The processor, configured by the computer program code, further causes the electronic device to process the features to determine the location of the electronic device on the user.

Automated detection and configuration of wearable devices based on on-body status, location, and/or orientation

A device includes a flexible printed circuit board and one or more conductive stiffeners. The conductive stiffeners include a conductive surface that can be electrically connected to contact pads on the flexible printed circuit board. The wearable device can further include an adhesive layer or an encapsulation layer. The adhesive layer and the encapsulation layer can include conductive portions surrounded by non-conductive portions. The conductive portions can be aligned with the conductive stiffeners and together transmit electrical energy to the contact pads of the flexible printed circuit board.

A system for controlling a therapeutic device and/or environmental parameters can include one or more body worn sensor devices that detect and report one or more physical, physiological, or biological parameters of a person in an environment. The sensor devices can communicate sensor data indicative of the one or more physical, physiological, or biological parameters of a person to an external hub that processes the data and communicates with the therapeutic device to provide a therapy (e.g., neuromodulation, neurostimulation, or drug delivery) as a function of the sensor data. In some embodiments, the therapeutic device can be implanted in the person. In some embodiments, the therapeutic device can be in contact with the skin of the person. The sensor devices can also communicate to the hub that communicates with one or more devices to change the environment as a function of the sensor data.

Method and system for neuromodulation and stimulation

Conformal sensor systems and devices are used for sensing and analysis of data indicative of body motion, e.g., for such applications as training and/or clinical purposes. Flexible electronics technology can be implemented as conformal sensors for sensing or measuring motion (including body motion and/or muscle activity), heart rate, electrical activity, and/or body temperature for such applications as medical diagnosis, medical treatment, physical activity, physical therapy and/or clinical purposes. The conformal sensors can be used for detecting and quantifying impact, and can be used for central nervous system disease monitoring.

In embodiments, the present invention may attach at least two isolated electronic components to an elastomeric substrate, and arrange an electrical interconnection between the components in a boustrophedonic pattern interconnecting the two isolated electronic components with the electrical interconnection. The elastomeric substrate may then be stretched such that the components separate relative to one another, where the electrical interconnection maintains substantially identical electrical performance characteristics during stretching, and where the stretching may extend the separation distance between the electrical components to many times that of the unstretched distance.
