A dividing wall column system for producing hexane includes a dividing wall column including a dividing wall that divides the dividing wall column at least partially into a first side and a second side, with one side of the first and second sides configured to operate as a deisohexanizer column and the other side of the first and second side configured to operate as a hexane column to produce hexane.

Hexane as a by-product of isomerization unit using a dividing wall column

The invention is directed to a combined naphtha hydrotreating (NHT) and isomerization process scheme, which includes dividing wall columns (DWC) that replace multiple distillation columns and allow optimized heat integration within the system. The disclosed design provides reductions in both capital and energy costs compared to conventional schemes.

Use of top dividing wall in isomerization unit

A processing unit includes a naphtha hydrotreating unit comprising a first divided wall column, a naphtha splitter system, and a deisopentanizer column coupled to an output of a naphtha splitter of the naphtha splitter system, an isomerization unit coupled to an outlet of the deisopentanizer column, and a second divided wall column. The processing unit also includes an isomerization reactor coupled between the deisopentanizer column and the stabilizer column.
