A stack, to be used in a fuel cell or electrolyzer, includes a collector layer, at least one diffusion layer and at least one anchoring layer. The collector layer being a metal foil or metal plate or foamed metal sheet, the diffusion layer can be a metal mesh or expanded metal sheet. An anchoring layer having a thickness of less than 0.5 mm can include metal fibers and be sintered between the collector layer and the diffusion layer.

Metal stack for fuel cells or electrolysers

The invention relates to a layered filter structure, said filter element comprises&#x2014;a first layer, said first layer comprising a porous metal layer;&#x2014;a second layer, said second layer comprising a self-supporting layer of sintered short metal fibers. The first and the second layer are sintered together. The layered filter structure is in particular suitable as surface filtration medium, for example for the filtration of liquids or gases.

A temperature resistant material, comprising a temperature resistant matrix and a set of short metal fibers, which characterized in that the set of short metal fibers represents at least 0.5% by weight of the temperature resistant material. The set of short metal fibers has an equivalent diameter D in the range of 1 to 150 &#x3bc;, and comprising curved fibers and entangled fibers. The curved fibers have an average length L in the range of 10 to 2000 &#x3bc;.

The present invention relates to short metal fibers. A set of short metal fibers, with an equivalent diameter ranging from 1 to 150 $(m)m, comprises entangled and curved fibers. At least 10% of the short metal fibers are entangled, whereas the length of the curved fibers is distributed according to a gamma-distribution, having an average length preferably between 10 and 2000 $(m)m.

A coal-fired power generation system including means for the production of coal-derived gas and a filter system for the filtration of this coal-derived gas. The invention relates to a burner membrane (1) for radiant burner comprising a porous sintered web of inorganic fibres that are resistant to high temperatures, wherein at least the membrane surface (3) opposite from the fuel supply side (2) has been provided with grooves (4) in the shape of a grid and which grooves bound the meshes (5) of the grid. Preferably, the meshes are regular polygons with a surface area of between 4 and 400 mm.sup.2. The porosity is between 70% and 90% and the permeability variation over its surface is less than 25%.
