Kits, apparatus, assemblies, and methods for mounting sighting devices are disclosed. A sighting device includes a base for coupling the sighting device to an object at a first interface, a mounting element connected to the base at a second interface, and a sighting element connected to the mounting element. A channel disposed in the bottom of the base is aligned with a channel disposed in the surface of the object and a channel insert is secured within both channels to securely couple the sighting device to the object. The secure coupling can resist movement of the sighting device relative to the object in at least one direction. The sighting element has a non-opaque body displaying a reticle. An illuminating element backlights the reticle from a first vantage point. The device optionally includes an opaque mounting body and a magnifying optic aligned with the sighting element in an open sight configuration.

Backlit sighting device

Apparatus, assemblies, and methods for sighting objects disclosed. A sighting device includes a segmented optic and a reticle. The reticle is optically aligned with the segmented object and is magnified by the segmented optic. A body structure supports the segmented optic and the reticle to define an open sight construction. In another aspect, a sighting device includes a segmented object and reticle, where the reticle includes multiple distance indicia and a contrast component. A support structure supports the reticle and the segmented object for magnification of the distance indicia by the segmented optic. A segmented optic in a sighting device is cut above center or otherwise such that a partial optic is defined having a portion above and below center. In another aspect, a sight adjustment mechanism includes a threaded connector that adjusts the sight position based on a difference between coarseness of threads engaged with the threaded connector.

Partial optical sighting device

A hunting arrow especially adapted to release a transmitter into a quarry animal to enable location of the quarry after having been shot. Preferably, the transmitter is secured to the hide of the quarry without substantial penetration into the animal. The device is particularly useful in the event that the hunting arrow passes completely through the quarry, or if imbedded therein is broken off or pulled out by the quarry. The arrow may be provided in two slidably engaged parts, with the transmitter releasably retained therein. An attachment device may be provided to remove the transmitter from the arrow and attach it to the quarry. Alternatively, the transmitter may be releasably secured to the outside of the arrow and released upon impact with the target animal.

Hunting arrow with signal generating means

A hunting arrow especially adapted to eject a transmitter into a quarry animal to enable location of the quarry after having been shot. The device is particularly useful in the event that the hunting arrow passes completely through the quarry, or if imbedded therein is broken off or pulled out by the quarry. The hunting arrow comprises an apparatus for retaining the transmitter within the arrow, which when moved rearwardly along the shaft of the arrow, permits a spring-loaded transmitter to be ejected into the body cavity of the quarry.
