The present invention provides a guide device for guiding print medium onto a take-up roll in a printing system. The guide device comprises a first guide member presenting a substantially planar surface for limiting or preventing lateral deviation of a printed medium output from the printing system as the medium moves along a transport path towards a take-up roll for winding or taking up a length of the medium. The first guide member is stationary in use. A position of the first guide member is adjustable in a direction transverse to the transport path for setting the position to limit or prevent lateral deviation of the medium along the transport path. The guide device further comprises a second guide member presenting a support surface configured and arranged to support the medium thereon as the medium travels along the transport path towards the take-up roll. The first guide member and the second guide member are preferably integrally formed as a guide unit. Further, the invention provides a printing system which incorporates such a guide device.

Guide device for guiding a printed medium onto a take-up roll in a printing system

The present invention provides apparatus for assisting change-over of take-up rolls in a printing system, especially in a roll-to-roll printing system. The apparatus comprises a guide device for directing or guiding printed sheet output from the printing system along a transport path towards a take-up roll for winding or taking up a length of the printed sheet, and a first clamping device for holding a new leading edge region of the printed sheet formed after the printed sheet is cut to terminate the length of the sheet to be wound or taken up onto the take-up roll. The first clamping device is configured to hold or clamp the new leading edge region of the printed sheet against movement along the transport path towards the take-up roll. The guide device is movable to redirect the printed sheet output from the printing system to a buffer zone, and the guide device is configured to redirect the printed sheet to the buffer zone when the first clamping device holds or clamps the new leading edge region of the printed sheet. Furthermore, the invention provides a corresponding method of handling take-up rolls in a printing system.

Apparatus and method for assisting change-over of take-up rolls in a printing system

In order to enable simple and easy handling of a large number of large format sheets, an output assembly is provided. The output assembly comprises a lower output tray element for receiving the sheets. In order to reliably transport and deposit a large format sheet from the printing device onto the lower output tray element, a guide element is provided just below an output opening of the printing device such to guide a leading edge of the sheet onto the lower output tray element. Once the leading edge is supported by the lower output tray element, the guide element is retracted such to enable a trailing edge to be deposited on the lower output tray element.

Output assembly for receiving a sheet output by a printing device

The invention relates to a method for full bleed printing using an inkjet printing apparatus. In the method for full bleed printing, a reference pattern is applied on the receiving medium in a current swath. The carriage of the inkjet printing apparatus and the receiving medium are moved with respect to one another in the sub scanning direction and in a subsequent swath, the distance between the reference pattern and a side edge of the receiving medium is determined, and based on the determined distance between the reference pattern and the side edge of the receiving medium, dots to be printed in an area between the side edge of the receiving medium and the reference pattern are determined.

Method for full bleed printing

An inkjet printer assembly for printing an image on a recording medium comprises a medium support surface for supporting a recording medium; an inkjet print head for ejecting droplets of an UV-curable ink on the recording medium, the inkjet print head being arranged over the medium support surface; an UV radiation source for irradiating the droplets of UV-curable ink on the recording medium, the UV radiation source being arranged over the medium support surface; a covering arranged over the medium support surface, the covering and the medium support surface together enclosing a print space including the inkjet print head and the UV radiation source; and exhaust means, the exhaust means being configured to vent the print space. The covering comprises a window part arranged such to allow a view on the medium support surface, the window part being at least partially transparent for visible light and configured to filter UV radiation from the UV radiation source to an extent that no harmful amount of UV radiation passes through. Thus, an operator is enabled to view a print result directly as it is printed without being subjected to harmful radiation.
