A screen including a filtration media having a manufactured structure with an interface portion and a filtration portion, the filtration portion having a homogenous geometry that precisely balances flow through all flow paths through the media. A method for making a screen including determining a geometric shape of each flow path through a prospective filtration media, sequentially progressively building the media particle by particle ensuring the geometric shape of each flow path is within 0.01 mm of a design geometry, and fusing each build particle to the foregoing build particle. A borehole system, including a borehole in a subsurface formation, a string in the borehole, and a screen and or plurality of individually designed screens disposed or geometrically distributed within or as a part of the string.

A fluid density valve housing includes a pilot fluid inlet and outlet and a primary fluid inlet and outlet. A shuttle is disposed within the housing. The shuttle comprises a portion having a reference density and a portion defining a cavity fluidically connected to the pilot fluid inlet, the shuttle permitting or denying primary fluid flow depending upon a density of a pilot fluid flowing through the cavity versus the reference density. A method for controlling flow, including comparing density of a pilot flow with a reference density, moving a valve between fully open, fully closed, and choked depending upon the differential density between the pilot fluid and the reference density. A borehole system, including a borehole in a subsurface formation, a string in the borehole, and a fluid density valve disposed within or as a part of the string.

An inflow control device including a valve responsive to pressure inputs, and a fluid discriminator having a first structure that supports a first flow regime and a second structure that changes the flow regime to exhibit a higher pressure, a first pressure tap at the first structure and a second pressure tap at the second structure, the taps experiencing a differential pressure that is different for water and for oil flowing through the discriminator, and the first and second pressure taps connected to the valve. Density based inflow control device, method, and system

A side pocket mandrel for use in a gas lift system is configured to improve the recovery of petroleum fluids from a well. The side pocket mandrel includes an upper assembly joint, a lower assembly joint, and a central portion that has a total length (L). The side pocket mandrel further comprises a central bore extending through the side pocket mandrel along a central longitudinal axis that extends through the upper and lower assembly joints. The side pocket mandrel further includes a tool channel offset from the central bore and a side pocket tube linearly aligned with the tool channel and configured to receive a gas lift valve. The side pocket mandrel further includes a pair of primary flow blocks that each have a length (L) that is at least 35% of the total length (L) of the central portion of the side pocket mandrel.

Element

A system includes a tubular having an interior surface, a longitudinal axis, a flowbore, and a main portion having a first inner diameter. A vibration inducing feature is disposed along the interior surface of the tubular and is immovable with respect to the tubular, and has a second inner diameter within the tubular that is different than the first inner diameter. The feature has a beveled first end surface and a beveled second end surface, the beveled first and second end surfaces longitudinally displaced from each other. The feature is configured to increase turbulence within the flowbore and configured to dissuade a capture of objects passing therethrough. A sensing system includes a sensor arranged to detect vibration within flow passing the vibration inducing feature, and is configured to output a command signal in response to sensed data reaching a threshold value or indicative of a predetermined pattern.

System using flow vibration detection and method

A valve assembly for a plug to close off a zone in the well for further treatment above the plug features a valve member initially pinned in an open position where flow up to a predetermined level can move through without dislodging the valve plug to move to its associated seat. If the perforating gun misfires a replacement gun can be run in with flow as the plug is still retained in the position for flow through the plug. On the other hand flow around the plug above a predetermined level will shear retainers for the plug and let the plug land on its seat closing flow in a downhole direction for treatment.

A flow device includes a flow-through region comprising at least one stage having a pocket configured to create a first pressure drop across the flow-through region in response to flow through the flow-through region in a first direction and a second pressure drop in response to flow through the flow-through region in a second direction. The first pressure drop is less than the second pressure drop under the same flow rates. The flow device has no moving parts to create the difference in pressure drop between the first direction and the second direction, the pocket has a larger cross sectional flow area than a first opening and a second opening fluidically connected to the pocket and a baffle positioned within the pocket having a 'U' shape with a concave side of the baffle facing toward the second opening.

Flow device and methods of creating different pressure drops based on a direction of flow

A flow device, includes a flow-through region comprising at least one stage and configured to create a first pressure drop across the flow-through region in response to flow through the flow-through region in a first direction and a second pressure drop in response to flow through the flow-through region in a second direction. The first pressure drop being less than the second pressure drop under the same flow rates. The flow device having no moving parts to create the difference in pressure drop between the first direction and the second direction. A method of creating different pressure drops based on a direction of flow.

The disclosure provides an apparatus for use in a wellbore that includes a first device that provides a first pressure differential based on a first constituent of a fluid and a second pressure differential based on a second constituent of the fluid and a second device that utilizes the first and second pressure differentials to operate a third device that performs an operation in the wellbore.
