The present application relates to a composition comprising the following components: A) at least one ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer; B) a peroxide; C) at least one filler selected from one or more carbon black samples, MgO, or a combination thereof; and optionally, at least one filler selected from silica, ZnO, CaCO, Al (OH), Mg (OH), or a combination thereof; D) a calculated P content from 0.010 wt % to 0.300 wt %, based on the weight of the composition, and wherein the calculated P content is the calculated content the phosphorus element present in one or more phosphate compounds selected from Structure 1 below: O═P (OR1) (OR2) (OR3) (Structure 1), wherein R1, R2 and R3 are each, independently, selected from i) a non-aromatic hydrocarbon or ii) a non-aromatic hydrocarbon comprising at least one heteroatom, excluding P.

Phosphate enhanced, heat resistant ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer compositions

A method to determine the weight percent of an 'amorphous' fraction in an olefin-based polymer composition, comprising one or more olefin-based polymers; said method comprising the following steps: a) dissolving the olefin-based polymer composition in an organic solvent to form a polymer solution; b) injecting at least a portion of the polymer solution onto a support material, and wherein the support material has a Co-crystallization Index (CI) value from 0.70 to 1.20; c) cooling the support material at a rate greater than, or equal to, 0.2 C/min; d) increasing the temperature of the support material to elute the polymers of the olefin-based polymer composition; e) generating a chromatogram; f) determining the peak area of the first elution from its lower integration limit to its upper integration limit; g) calculating the “amorphous” fraction” based on the following Equation A below: wt % “amorphous” fraction=PA/PA×100 (Eqn. A); wherein PA=peak area of the first elution, and PAtotal #191=total peak area of the polymers of the olefin-based polymer composition.

The present invention discloses a process for forming a biaxially oriented film. The process includes first selecting a polyolefin resin wherein said polyolefin resin comprises a linear low density polyethylene resin characterized by having from 9 to 35 weight percent of the total weight of linear low density polyethylene resin eluting from a CEF at a temperature greater than 97.0&#xb0; C.; and further characterized by having a CDR of from 33 to 80 and a Mw Ratio of from 0.15 to 0.45. Next a film is formed from the polyolefin resin selected in the first step. Finally the film formed in the second step is oriented in a sequential manner. The films produced by this process are characterized by having an ultimate elongation at least 1.5 times greater in the MD as compared to the CD and the 2% secant modulus is a least 1.25 times greater in the CD as compared to the MD. The films are further characterized by having free residual shrinkage of less than 10% in the MD and less than 10% in the CD when exposed to a temperature of 90&#xb0; C. for 10 minutes.

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer compositions including a polyethylene and an alpha-olefin comonomer, where the polyethylene is from 70 wt % to 100 wt % of the interpolymer composition based on a total weight of the interpolymer composition and the interpolymer composition is characterized by a Comonomer Distribution Constant (CDC) in a range of from 100 to 500, a vinyl unsaturation of less than 0.15 vinyls per one thousand total carbon atoms present in the interpolymer composition, a zero shear viscosity ratio (ZSVR) in a range from 1.5 to 5, a density in a range of from 0.903 to 0.950 g/cm, a melt index (I) in a range of from 0.1 to 15 g/10 minutes, a molecular weight distribution (M/M) in a range of from 1.8 to 4.5, and a separation index of from 0.50 to 1.10.

In one aspect, a biaxially oriented, multilayer polyethylene film comprises Layer A which is a sealant layer p having a top facial surface and a bottom facial surface and comprising a first polyethylene, wherein the first polyethylene has a density of at least 0.900 g/cm, an Iof 20-60 kg/mol, and a MWof greater than 130 kg/mol, wherein Layer A comprises at least 50 weight percent of the first polyethylene based on the weight of Layer A, and Layer B having a top facial surface and a bottom facial surface, wherein Layer B comprises one or more additional polyethylenes, and wherein the top facial surface of Layer B is in adhering contact with a bottom facial surface of Layer A, wherein the density of the first polyethylene is at least 0.002 g/cmless than the density of Layer B.
