A self-charging organic electroluminescent display is disclosed. A solar cell and an organic electroluminescent device are installed on a same substrate or different substrates. Using the photoelectric conversion property of the solar cell, the solar energy is converted into electrical energy and stored in a battery. Therefore, the electrical energy converted from the solar energy can be provided for the organic electroluminescent device to emit light, forming a self-charging organic electroluminescent display module.

This invention relates to tetraphenylmethane-based oxadiazole molecules that act as electron transporting materials to be used in electroluminescent devices. The oxadiazole compounds are of the following formula. Each variable is defined in the specification.

A field sequential dichroic light valve using ferro-electric liquid crystal components and multi-layer thin film broadband polarizing beam-splitting devices as an optical switch. The field sequential dichroic light valve has a fast time response and a memory function, as well as a switch frequency larger than 180 Hz and an optical transmittance larger than 90%. Accordingly, the field sequential dichroic light valve can effectively switch R, G, B-colored light beams in time sequence, and can be applied to a full-color projection display system.

Disclosed is a novel packaging method for organic polymer EL displays characterized by passivating the organic polymer EL display with a heat-dissipating layer by sputtering deposition. By using this heat-dissipating layer, the heat generated by the EL display can be dissipated. In addition, this passivating and heat-dissipating layer can prevent the cathode and the polymer luminant layer from reacting to the oxygen and moisture in the air, thereby the degradation of the polymer EL display can be eliminated. Moreover, a packaging shell with grids set inside or covering layer consisting of material with high thermal conductivity is formed on the top of the heat-dissipating layer to consolidate the structure of the heat-dissipating mechanism and enhance the effect of heat-dissipation.
