Film forming compositions and methods for preventing stains and increasing shine and gloss of teeth. The film forming compositions may include a polymer, such as a hydrophobic polymer, and an orally acceptable solvent. The hydrophobic polymer may include an acrylate component and a hydrophobic group coupled with one another. The hydrophobic group may include an alkyl chain, a polyethylene glycol, a polypropylene, a polyester, a polyorthoester, a phospholipid, a long chain fatty acid, a vinyl chloride, fluorethylene, a siloxane, a urethane, an octylacrylamide, a butylaminoethyl, a styrene, and combinations thereof.

Oral care compositions and methods for the same

Film forming compositions and methods for occluding dentin tubules of teeth to treat dentinal hypersensitivity of the teeth are provided. The film forming compositions may include a hydrophobic copolymer, a rosin, and an orally acceptable solvent. The hydrophobic copolymer may include an acrylate/octylacrylamide copolymer, such as 2-propenoic acid, 2-methyl-, 2-methylpropyl ester, polymer with 2-propenoic acid and N-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)-2-propenamide. Durable dental film-forming composition and uses thereof

Disclosed is a method of forming a uniform coating onto a tooth surface, which method includes: forming droplets by spraying an orally acceptable coating material through a spray nozzle, and depositing the droplets onto the tooth surface to thereby form a uniform coating. In the method, the droplets have a volume-averaged droplet size of about 1 &#x3bc;m to about 100 &#x3bc;m, a spray including the droplets travels from a tip of the spray nozzle towards the tooth surface at a spray rate of less than about 10 milliliters/minute, and the droplets include a film-forming polymer, a therapeutic agent and/or a cosmetic agent.

Surface modified biological materials

A dye-free nail varnish that is used alone or with a stamp to generate a colored coating under incident white light is presented. The nail varnish includes photonic particles and/or block copolymers that can self-assemble to provide a structurally colored coating. The stamp presents a pattern of repeating nanostructures that can be transferred by imprinting the stamp on a coating of a dye-free nail varnish, thereby providing a structurally colored nail varnish coating. Thus, the nail varnish and stamp, independently or together, provide structurally colored coatings without the use of dyes or pigments.
