An arthroscopic surgical device for tunneling through hard tissue including an arcuate tunneling needle driver and a bone engagement element, the arcuate needle driver and the bone engagement element being joined together to provide a joined needle driver and bone engagement element having at least two different operative orientations including an arthroscopic operative orientation wherein the joined arcuate needle driver and bone engagement element has a trans-incision insertion cross-sectional footprint and a tunneling operative orientation suitable for tunneling, wherein the joined arcuate needle driver and bone engagement element has a tunneling cross-sectional footprint which is substantially greater than the insertion cross-sectional footprint.

Arthroscopic surgical device

An arthroscopic bone channel forming and suturing system useful following formation of a first and a second generally straight channel in a bone, the second channel not intersecting the first channel, the system including a curved bone puncture needle configured to be insertable into the first channel, a curved needle driving assembly configured to manipulate the curved needle to form a curved junction between the first channel and the second channel, a suture snare wire assembly configured to insert a suture snare wire to a suture snare wire pick-up location via the second channel in the bone and a coordinated multi-function driving assembly operative to operate the curved needle driving assembly and the suture snare wire assembly in coordinated operation to cause the suture snare wire to be pulled from the suture pick up location and through the first channel via the junction.

A bone suture assembly including a flexible generally cylindrical sleeve, a plurality of lengths of suture extending through the generally cylindrical sleeve, and at least one sleeve securing thread associated with the generally cylindrical sleeve. A bone suture retaining method including engaging a suture with a bone engaging sleeve, inserting the suture and the bone engaging sleeve engaged thereby into a transosseous tunnel formed into a bone by pulling the bone engaging sleeve into the transosseous tunnel and retaining the suture and the bone engaging sleeve in the transosseous tunnel by virtue of the bone engaging sleeve being unable to fit through an aperture in the bone.

An arthroscopic bone tunneling and suturing device including a bone-engaging needle driving assembly including a bone-engaging needle and being adapted for arthroscopic insertion into engagement with a patient's bone at a first bone location through an arthroscopic incision and for driving the needle forwardly along a generally arcuate tunneling path through the bone at least to a second bone location and a bone-engaging pin driving assembly arranged for operative engagement with the bone-engaging needle driving assembly and being adapted for arthroscopic insertion into engagement with a patient's bone at a third bone location through the arthroscopic incision.

An arthroscopic bone channel forming and suturing method including forming a first generally straight channel in a bone, forming a second generally straight channel in the bone, the second generally straight channel not intersecting the first generally straight channel, inserting a curved needle into the first generally straight channel, inserting a suture through the second generally straight channel in the bone to a suture pick-up location, manipulating the curved needle to form a curved junction between the first generally straight channel and the second generally straight channel; and pulling the suture by the curved needle from the suture pick-up location through the junction and though the first generally straight channel.

The present invention provides a circular bone tunneling device, comprising: a hollow elongate body comprising a hollow elongate body head, said hollow elongate body head defining a rigid circular arc, comprising a surgical needle; an extendable and retractable support element, reconfigurable from an extended configuration to a retracted configuration; said support element, in said extended configuration, adapted to be located along said path formed by said rigid circular arc; said support element and said hollow elongate body head are adapted to grasp said bone from at least two points along the circumference of said bone; a stabilizing element.
