Systems and methods for local bioactive material delivery

A medical device including, e.g., an implantable medical lead or drug pump catheter, a guide member, or a sheath is delivered to a target location within a patient via a catheter capable of subselecting vessels or other cavities, passages, or the like within the patient's body. The catheter employs an inflatable member that, when actuated, acts to deflect a medical device to direct the device into a vessel or other cavity, passage, or the like branching off of, e.g., a vessel in which the catheter is arranged. In some examples, the inflatable member acts to deflect the delivery catheter, which in turn necessarily deflects the implantable medical device arranged therein. In other examples, the inflatable member acts to deflect the medical device to turn the device into a vessel or other cavity, passage, or the like branching off of the vessel in which the catheter is arranged.

Method of using a deflectable subselecting catheter

The present invention provides a method of applying a drug-polymer coating on a stent. A stent framework is dipped into a first polymeric solution including a first polymer, a first therapeutic agent, and a first solvent. The polymeric solution is dried and the first polymer is cured to form a thin drug-polymer layer on the stent framework. The steps of dipping the stent framework into the first polymeric solution, drying the first polymeric solution, and curing the first polymer are repeated until a target drug-polymer coating thickness is disposed on the stent framework. A drug-polymer coated stent including a stent framework and a laminated drug-polymer coated stent, a system for treating a vascular condition, and a method of treating a vascular condition are also disclosed.

The present invention provides a method of applying a drug-polymer coating on a stent. A stent framework is dipped into a first polymeric solution including a first polymer, a first therapeutic agent, and a first solvent. The polymeric solution is dried to form a thin drug-polymer layer on the stent framework. The stent framework with the thin drug-polymer layer, which is insoluble in the second polymeric solution, is dipped into a second polymeric solution including a second polymer and a second solvent and is dried to form a thin barrier layer on the thin drug-polymer layer. The steps of dipping the stent framework into the first polymeric solution, drying the first polymeric solution, dipping the stent framework into the second polymeric solution, and drying the second polymeric solution are repeated until a target drug-polymer coating thickness is disposed on the stent framework.

The apparatus comprises an elongate cover member having a proximal end and a distal end, and an elongate support member within the cover member for supporting the fistula device and configured for relative movement with respect to the cover member so as to release the fistula device at a desired location.

The present invention protects a distal portion of a catheter during shipment and storage. The device holds the distal portion suspended such that it does not contact the device. The suspended portion is protected from damage resulting from abrasion. When the suspended portion includes a therapeutic coating, the coating is protected from the risk of impaired performance resulting from a therapeutic agent migrating out of the coating and into the packaging material or components of the packaging material migrating into the therapeutic coating, both of which can occur if a therapeutic coating remains in contact with another material for an extended period of time.

The present invention relates to a stent manufactured from a thin-walled tube of surgical implant quality. The stent comprises a plurality of main circumferential rings, a plurality of longitudinal links and a plurality of intermediate circumferential rings. The main circumferential rings are longitudinally spaced apart along a longitudinal axis. Circumferential gaps are formed between adjacent main circumferential rings. The longitudinal links span the gaps and are attached to adjacent main circumferential rings. The intermediate circumferential rings fill in the circumferential gaps and are attached to the longitudinal links. The present invention thereby provides a stent with adequate radial strength to properly deploy, adequate scaffolding affect to properly support vessel walls and increased longitudinal flexibility to easily maneuver through tortuous vessels.
