The present invention relates to a piston washer () for use in a drug delivery device for transferring a distally directed axial force from a piston rod () towards a piston () of a held cartridge (). The piston washer () defines a proximal surface portion () adapted for engagement with the distal portion of a piston rod () and a distal surface portion () configured to engage and abut a piston (). An axial distance defining device () is positioned between the proximal surface portion () and the distal surface portion (), wherein the axial distance defining device () is configured to be shifted from a first axial compressible state into a second axial non-compressible state. The present invention relates to a method of assembling a drug delivery device which in the assembled state defines a distal housing component () that houses a piston equipped cartridge (), and a proximal housing component () that houses a dose setting and expelling mechanism. The method includes the steps of arranging the cartridge () in the distal housing component (), arranging a nut element () threadedly engaged with a piston rod () in the distal housing component (), and securing the nut element () relative to the distal housing component () into a selective one of a series of predetermined relative orientations for obtaining a predetermined axial clearance or abutment between the piston rod () and the piston of the cartridge (). The invention further relates to a drug delivery device assembled according to the method.

The invention relates to a pre-filled injection device for apportioning a plurality of set doses of a liquid drug comprising. The housing of the injection device supports a non-replaceable cartridge containing the liquid drug. The cartridge is e.g. secured in a cartridge-holder being a part of the housing. A needle assembly comprising a needle cannula secured in a hub is slidable mounted to slide into contact with the cartridge. The tip of the needle cannula is covered by a telescopically movable shield movable from an extended position to a retracted position. The telescopically movable shield supports a cleaning chamber containing a cleaning solvent for cleaning at least the distal tip of the needle cannula between subsequent injections. The distal end of the housing supports a removable protective cap and the telescopically movable shield is guided relatively to the housing and coupled to the protective cap to follow movement of the protective cap.

The present invention relates to an injection device for delivering set doses of a liquid drug to a user. The injection device has a scale drum for displaying the set dose, which scale drum is helically guided in a housing. The scale drum is thus rotational in relation to the housing between a zero position and a set position for displaying the set dose. Further, a needle cannula secured to a hub is mounted in an axially movable manner. The axial movement of the hub is generated by a spring. A blocking mechanism interacting between the scale drum and hub controls the axial movement of the hub such that the needle cannula automatically retracts from the skin of a user in response to the scale drum reaching the zero position.

The invention relates to an injection device for self-administration of doses of a liquid drug. The injection device carries a needle cannula () which is concealed by a telescopically movable shield (). Further a stopping means () interconnects the shield with the helical rotatable scale sleeve () such that the shield can only be operated proximally when the scale sleeve is rotated away from its zero position. Once the scale sleeve returns to its zero position during expelling of the dose, the shield and the stopping means is allowed to slide distally and thus return to the locked position.
