The present invention relates to multilayer films. In one aspect, a multilayer film comprises a first polyethylene composition having a density of at least 0.965 g/cmand as further described herein and a second polyethylene composition having a density of 0.924 g/cmto 0.936 g/cmand as further described herein, wherein the multilayer film comprises 40 weight percent or less of the first polyethylene composition based on the total weight of the multilayer film.

Multilayer films and articles comprising the same

The present invention relates to oriented, multilayer polyethylene films. In one aspect, a biaxially oriented, multilayer polyethylene film comprises at least one layer comprising: (1) a polyethylene-based composition that comprises: (a) at least 97% by weight, based on the total weight of the polyethylene-based composition, of a polyethylene composition comprising: (i) from 25 to 37 percent by weight of a first polyethylene fraction having a density in the range of 0.935 to 0.947 g/cmand a melt index (I) of less than 0.1 g/10 minutes; and (ii) from 63 to 75 percent by weight of a second polyethylene fraction; and (b) 20 to 5000 ppm, based on the total weight of the polyethylene-based composition of a nucleating agent, wherein the nucleating agent comprises a calcium salt of 1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid or sodium 4-[(4-chlorobenzoyl) amino] benzoate; wherein the polyethylene composition has less than 0.10 branches per 1,000 carbon atoms when measured usingC NMR, wherein the density of the polyethylene-based composition is at least 0.965 g/cm, and wherein the melt index (I) of the polyethylene-based composition is 0.5 to 10 g/10 minutes.

Oriented polyethylene films and articles comprising the same

The present disclosure provides for a bicomponent fiber that includes a first region formed of a condensation polymer and a second region formed from a polyethylene blend. The polyethylene blend includes (i) an ethylene-based polymer having a density of 0.920 g/cmto 0.970 g/cmand a melt index, I, as determined by ASTM D1238 at 190° C. and 2.16 kg of 0.5 to 150 g/10 minutes; (ii) a maleic anhydride-grafted polyethylene; and (iii) an inorganic Brønsted-Lowry acid having an acid strength pKa value at 25° C. of 1 to 6.5, wherein the polyethylene blend has a 0.03 to 0.5 weight percent of grafted maleic anhydride based on the total weight of the polyethylene blend. The first region is a core region of the bicomponent fiber and the second region is a sheath region of the bicomponent fiber, where the sheath region surrounds the core region.

Bicomponent fiber and polymer composition thereof

The present disclosure provides a multilayer film. The multilayer film includes at least two layers including a sealant layer and a second layer in contact with the sealant layer. The sealant layer contains (A) a first ethylene-based polymer having a density from 0.895 g/cc to 0.925 g/cc and a melt index from 0.5 g/10 min to 30 g/10 min; (B) a branched fatty acid amide; and (C) a linear saturated fatty acid amide, wherein the branched fatty acid amide and the linear saturated fatty acid amide have a weight ratio of from 1:5 to 3:1. The second layer contains a second ethylene-based polymer.

Multilayer films and laminates containing slip agents

The present disclosure provides a fiber and fabrics made therefrom. In an embodiment, a fiber is provided and includes an odor control composition. The odor control composition includes (A) from 85 wt % to 99.5 wt % of an olefin-based polymer and (B) from 15 wt % to 0.5 wt % of an odor suppressant. The odor suppressant includes: (i) an ionomer, (ii) particles of zinc oxide, and (iii) particles of copper oxide.

Fiber with odor control component

The present disclosure provides a film. In an embodiment, a multilayer film is provided and includes (A) a seal layer, (B) a barrier layer, and (C) an odor control layer. The odor control layer includes an odor control composition containing (A) from 85 wt % to 99.5 wt % of an olefin-based polymer and (B) from 15 wt % to 0.5 wt % of an odor suppressant. The odor suppressant includes a blend of: (i) an ionomer, (ii) particles of zinc oxide, and (iii) particles of copper oxide. The composition has a methyl mercaptan odor suppression value of greater than 45% as measured in accordance with ASTM D5504-12.

An ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer suitable for use in fibers and nonwovens having a density of from 0.911 to 0.939 g/cc, a Brookfield viscosity of less than or equal to 50,000 cP, and a molecular weight distribution (M/M) of 1.8 to 3.5, and articles thereof.

The invention provides ethylene-based composition comprising a blend of an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene having an intrinsic viscosity from 5 to 50 deciliters/gram; a thermoplastic polyolefin elastomer having a density of from 0.850 to 0.910 g/cc; and, optionally, a fluoropolymer.

The invention provides a composition suitable for use in pipe applications, the composition comprising: an ultra-high molecular weight ethylene-based polymer having an intrinsic viscosity from 5 to 50 deciliters/gram; a polyethylene resin comprising a first molecular weight ethylene-based polymer component and a second molecular weight ethylene-based polymer component, wherein the polyethylene resin has a density from 0.930 to 0.960 g/cc; a thermoplastic polyolefin elastomer having a density of from 0.850 to 0.910 g/cc; and, optionally, a fluoropolymer.

A coating composition which comprises a dispersion comprising: (a) a core comprising a base polymer; (b) a shell at least partially surrounding said core, wherein said shell comprising a polar polymeric stabilizing agent; and (c) one or more hydrophobic particulate fillers embedded at least partially in said shell is provided.

Coating composition, a process of producing a coating composition, a coated article, and a method of forming such articles

The instant invention provides a coating composition, a process of making a coating composition, a coated article, and a method of forming such articles. The coating composition according to the present invention comprises a dispersion comprising: (a) a core comprising a base polymer; (b) a shell at least partially surrounding said core, wherein said shell comprising a polar polymeric stabilizing agent; and (c) one or more hydrophobic particulate fillers embedded at least partially in said shell. The process for making a coating composition according to the present invention comprises the steps of: (1) selecting a base polymer; (2) selecting a polar polymeric stabilizing agent; (3) selecting one or more hydrophobic particulate fillers; (4) melt-blending said base polymer, said polar polymeric stabilizing agent, and said one or more hydrophobic particulate fillers; (4) contacting said melt-blended base polymer, polar polymeric stabilizing agent and one or more hydrophobic particulate fillers with water and optionally in the presence of a neutralizing agent; (5) thereby forming said dispersion comprising: (a) a core comprising said base polymer; (b) a shell at least partially surrounding said core, wherein said shell comprising said polar polymeric stabilizing agent; and (c) said one or more hydrophobic particulate fillers embedded at least partially in said shell. The coated article according to the present invention comprises: a substrate comprising cellulose base material; and a dispersion on at least one surface of said substrate, wherein said dispersion comprises: (a) a core comprising a base polymer; (b) a shell at least partially surrounding said core, wherein said shell comprising a polar polymeric stabilizing agent; and (c) one or more hydrophobic particulate fillers embedded at least partially in said shell. The method of making a coated article according to the present invention comprises the steps of: (1) providing a substrate comprising cellulose base material (2) providing a coating composition comprising a dispersion comprising: (a) a core comprising a base polymer; (b) a shell at least partially surrounding said core, wherein said shell comprising a polar polymeric stabilizing agent; and (c) one or more hydrophobic particulate fillers embedded at least partially in said shell; (3) applying said coating composition to at least one surface of said substrate; and (4) thereby making said coated article.

The instant invention provides coated polymeric particulates, and a method for producing polymeric particulates. The coated polymeric particulates according to the present invention comprise (a) one or more polymeric particulates; and (b) a coating composition present on at least a portion of at least one surface of said polymeric particulate, wherein said coating composition comprises a dispersion comprising: (1) one or more base polymers, (2) one or more stabilizing agents; (3) one or more biocide agents; (4) one or more neutralizing agents; and (5) water.

Coated polymeric particulates, and a process for coating polymeric particulates

Coating compositions, processes of making coating compositions, coated articles, and methods of forming such articles. Coating compositions include a dispersion of core/shell particles. The core includes a base polymer, and the shell includes a polar polymeric stabilizing agent. One or more hydrophobic particulate fillers is embedded at least partially in the shell. Processes include: (1) selecting the base polymer; (2) selecting the stabilizing agent; (3) selecting the particulate filler(s); (4) melt-blending these, and contacting the melt-blend with water optionally with a neutralizing agent, thereby forming the coating composition including a dispersion. Coated articles include a substrate including cellulose and a dispersion on at least one surface of the substrate. Methods of making coated articles include: (1) providing a substrate including cellulose; (2) providing a coating composition including a dispersion; and (3) applying the coating composition to at least one surface of the substrate, thereby making the coated article.

Blended polyolefin dispersions, including: (A) a liquid; (B) an olefin-based polymer dispersed in the liquid, the dispersed olefin-based polymer having an average particle size ranging from 0.1 to 5 microns; and (C) an alpha-beta unsaturated carboxylic acid-based polymer dispersed in the liquid, the dispersed alpha-beta unsaturated carboxylic acid-based polymer having an average particle size ranging from 0.02 microns to 1 micron. Coatings, froths, foams, toners, and other various uses for the blended dispersions are also disclosed.

Blended polyolefin dispersions

Polystyrene is dispersed into a polyol via a mechanical dispersion process. A stabilizer is present to stabilize the dispersed polymer particles. The stabilizer includes a copolymer of (1) from 10 to 70% by weight of a branched polyol which has a molecular weight of from 4000 to 20,000, from 0.2 to about 1.2 polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule and from about 3 to about 8 hydroxyl groups per molecule with (2) from 30 to 90% by weight of styrene or a mixture of styrene and one or more other low molecular weight monomers.
