A toothbrush that includes a brushing attachment and a handle is described. The brushing attachment includes a main body portion that includes a hollow neck and a head. The neck includes a skirt portion with an attachment opening and the head includes a cleaning member opening. The handle includes a main body portion that houses a motor, and a male attachment member extending upwardly from the main body portion that is at least partially received in the attachment opening in the brushing attachment. The male attachment member includes at least a first retention rib that is received in a first retention recess defined in the inner surface of the neck of the brushing attachment, and the inner surface of the neck includes a first retention lug extending outwardly therefrom that is positioned below the first retention rib.

Electric toothbrush attachment mechanism

A toothbrush that includes a brushing attachment and a handle. The brushing attachment includes a main body portion with a hollow neck having an attachment opening and a head with a cleaning member opening, a drive shaft positioned in the neck, a cleaning member drive mechanism matingly engaged with gearing on the drive shaft, and a cleaning member extending through the cleaning member opening in the head and operatively associated with the cleaning member drive mechanism. The drive shaft includes a spline drive on one end and gearing on the opposite end. The handle includes a main body portion with a brushing attachment connection receiver that is at least partially received in the attachment opening. The brushing attachment connection receiver includes a recess defined therein that receives a drive hub with a grooved recess defined therein that receives the spline drive.

Electric toothbrush with drive mechanism

A toothbrush head that includes a main body portion and a generally cylindrical connection member extending downwardly and defining an axis. The connection member includes bottom, outer and inner surfaces and a central opening. The connection member also includes a first lower protrusion that includes first and second inclined surfaces extending inwardly from the inner surface, a first slot defined in the bottom surface and the inner surface, a first lower notch defined in the inner surface, and a first opening defined in the inner surface above the first lower protrusion.

The head includes a main body portion and a generally cylindrical connection member that has bottom, outer and inner surfaces and a central opening, and a first lower protrusion that includes first and second inclined surfaces extending inwardly from the inner surface, a first slot defined in the bottom surface and the inner surface, a first lower notch defined in the inner surface, and a first opening defined in the inner surface above the first lower protrusion. The first slot and the first lower notch are disposed on opposite sides of the first lower protrusion, the first lower tab is positioned in the first lower notch and the first lug in the first opening.
