An automatically locking delivery box is provided. The automatically locking delivery box has a base with a plurality of sidewalls rising therefrom, a locking system, and a lid hingedly attached to a top portion of a sidewall. The locking system can lock the lid to the sidewalls. A button is connected to the locking system such that the locking system can unlock one time when the button is actuated. The locking system detects when the lid is opened and automatically locks once the lid is closed again. The locking system also includes a keyhole for a complementary key which can be used to manually unlock the device. Once the locking system is unlocked by the button, it cannot be unlocked again until the key is used at which point the locking system is reset such that the button can be actuated, and the locking system can be unlocked one time.

Signature loader comprising a telescopically related main floor-mounted frame and a smaller auxiliary frame, first and second horizontal rotatable shafts between the frames spaced apart by a predetermined distance and so positioned that infeed belts thereon converge to define between them a signature infeed throat, one of said shafts being a pivot about which the auxiliary frame may be pivoted so the throat may be selectively positioned in one of two alternate attitudes.

Signature feeder operable with either flat or standing stacks

Signature machine for printing an inside page of a signature as it moves through the machine from a signature supply source to the signature gatherer, made possible by positioning an ink jet printer in a raceway between the supply source and the gatherer. After being printed the signature is folded to bring the inside pages into juxtaposition before being delivered to the gatherer. There may be two supply sources for different signatures, feeding different signatures to be printed differently before being folded one after another.

Signature machines

A signature feeding machine in which signatures are fed one by one from a stack in a supply hopper by suction devices; when a signature is not to be fed the stack is displaced so that the suction devices are inoperable to effect feeding and preferably suction is discontinued at the same time.

Signatures fresh from the printing press are fed in a shingled stream toward and then dropped one by one into a hopper which may feed a gathering chain. The signatures are 'broken' (unstuck) by first stacking them edgewise on horizontal support, shingling them in a constant stream by an unusual form of suction feed, bending the shingled stream and thereafter cascading the stream into the hopper.

Sheet feeders

Mail is sorted by scanning zip code data, delivering the scanned mail from a delivery conveyor to a sorting conveyor and altering the speed of the sorting conveyor when there is a change in the zip code; zip code batches cannot be interrupted by missing pieces. The delivery conveyor and sorting conveyor are at right angles and both conveyors may be duplicated by a parallel conveyor, enabling large size mail to be handled.
