A voltage regulator is provided. The voltage regulator includes a shunt transistor and a feedback circuit. The shunt transistor has a first current electrode coupled to a first voltage source terminal, a second current electrode coupled to a second voltage source terminal, a control electrode coupled to receive a reference voltage, and a body electrode. The feedback circuit has an input terminal coupled to the body electrode of the shunt transistor, and an output terminal coupled to the control electrode of the shunt transistor. The voltage regulator is suitable for use in a passive RFID device to protect the device from over-voltage damage. In another embodiment, a method for regulating a voltage is provided.

A receiver module (), transceiver module for body coupled communication devices () and a method of waking-up a body coupled receiver of a body coupled communication device () are provided. The receiver module () of the body coupled communication device () comprises couplers () for receiving signals via a body transmission channel () which follows a body of a user (). A wake-up receiver () and a main receiver () of the receiver module () are coupled to the couplers (). The main receiver () may operate in a sleep mode and in an operational mode. The wake-up receiver () generates a wake-up signal () when signals received via the body transmission channel () in a predefined spectral range exceed an energy threshold level. The wake-up signal () is provided to a circuitry of the body coupled communication device () to directly or indirectly configuring the main receiver () in the operational mode.

A power supply system () is provided which comprises a first input (), an output (), a DC-DC converter (), a rectifying circuit () and a voltage limiter (). An AC voltage is received by the first input. Power is supplied to a load () via the output. The DC-DC converter comprises a second input () which is capacitively coupled to the first input, and the DC-DC converter provides power to the output. The rectifying circuit is capacitively coupled to the first input and is arranged between the first input and the output. The rectifying circuit provides a rectified output voltage to the output. The voltage limiter is coupled to the output and limits the rectified voltage to a predefined voltage.
