Processes for making fibrous structures and more particularly processes for making fibrous structures comprising filaments are provided.

Process for making fibrous structures

A material web is disclosed. The material web includes a fiber layer having a first side and an opposing second side. The fiber layer has a plurality of fibers, each of which having an intimate admixture of a thermoplastic polymer, and a wax and/or oil, wherein at least some of the wax and/or oil is exposed at an outer surface of the fibers. A surface energy treatment is disposed on the first side and/or the second side of the fiber layer.

Disposable article that include fibers formed from compositions comprising thermoplastic polymers and waxes are disclosed, where the wax is dispersed throughout the thermoplastic polymer.

A nonwoven web material including fibers formed of a polyolefin and a polyester is disclosed. The fibers may include fine fibers produced by, for example, a meltblowing process. The polyolefin may be polypropylene and the polyester may be polylactic acid. The polylactic acid may be obtained and included by recycling scrap nonwoven material containing a polylactic acid component, hydrolyzing the polylactic acid component to reduce its viscosity, blending the hydrolyzed polylactic acid with a polyolefin resin, and melt-spinning the blended material to form fibers. Disposable articles that include fibers formed from compositions comprising thermoplastic polymers and waxes, where the wax is dispersed throughout the thermoplastic polymer. The fibers containing the wax can define at least a portion of a nonwoven and can be utilized in one or more of the following article layers: liquid pervious layer, liquid impervious layer, and absorbent core disposed therebetween.

A dispersible fibrous structure having an in-use wet tensile strength of at least about 40 g/cm; a disposable wet tensile decay of at least about 35% and a method of making the structure. The structure has at least one property selected from a group consisting of: a wet CD maximum slope of less than about 12 kg/7.62 cm, a wet CD Elongation of greater than about 50%, a low elongation CD modulus of less than about 5.0 kg/7.62 cm, and a wet CD Bending of less than about 0.05 gf cm/cm.
