Methods and systems of maintaining, evaluating, and providing therapy to a lung ex vivo. The methods and systems involve positioning the lung in an ex vivo perfusion circuit; circulating a perfusion fluid through the lung, the fluid entering the lung through a pulmonary artery interface and leaving the lung through a left atrial interface; and ventilating the lung by flowing a ventilation gas through a tracheal interface. Maintaining the lung for extended periods involves causing the lung to rebreath a captive volume of air, and reaching an equilibrium state between the perfusion fluid and the ventilation gas. Evaluating the gas exchange capability of the lung involves deoxygenating the perfusion fluid and measuring a time taken to reoxygenate the perfusion fluid by ventilating the lung with an oxygenation gas.

Systems and methods for ex vivo lung care

The invention provides, in various embodiments, a method comprising placing an ex-vivo heart in a chamber of an organ care system; connecting the ex-vivo heart to a perfusion fluid circuit of the organ care system; starting a pump configured to provide, via the perfusion fluid circuit, a perfusion fluid to the ex-vivo heart; synchronizing at least one maximum output of the pump with an r-wave of the ex-vivo heart; testing the ex-vivo heart or the organ care system; adjusting a setting of the organ care system in response to a result of the testing; and after adjusting the setting of the organ care system in response to the result of the testing, re-testing the ex-vivo heart or the organ care system.

The invention provides, in various embodiments, systems, devices and methods relating to ex-vivo organ care. In certain embodiments, the invention relates to maintaining an organ ex-vivo at near-physiologic conditions.

An electronic door lock mounts to a door and includes an inner side and an outer side. The electronic door lock is operable to control access to an access controlled area positioned adjacent the inner side of the door. The electronic door lock includes an outer base connected to the outer side of the door, an inner base connected to the inner side of the door, a locking mechanism coupled to the door and movable between a locked position and an unlocked position in response to a control signal, and a control circuit disposed within the inner base and operable to generate the control signal in response to an input credential. An attachment interface is at least partially formed as part of the outer base. Each of a plurality of different types of credential readers is selectively attachable and removable from the attachment interface when the outer base is attached to the door to electrically connect a selected one of the plurality of different types of credential readers to the control circuit to provide the input. A communication module is connected to the control circuit, and the communication module is operable to communicate with a device that is separate from the electronic door lock.

The invention provides an electronic door lock for a door having a first side and a second side. The electronic door lock includes a locking mechanism, a credential reader, and a programmable control circuit. The locking mechanism is coupled to the door and is movable between a locked position in which the door is inhibited from opening and an unlocked position in which the door is free to open. The credential reader is coupled to the door and is operable to read a credential. The programmable control circuit is coupled to the door and is operable to move the locking mechanism between the locked position and the unlocked position at least partially in response to the read credential. The programmable control circuit is selectively programmed to move the locking mechanism to a pre-selected either one of the locked position and the unlocked position in response to a failure signal.

In an access control system, a method and system for power management. A method of power management in a wireless access control system includes monitoring usage of a transceiver in a remote access point in a wireless access control system, de-activating the transceiver when the transceiver is not in use, and re-activating the transceiver upon occurrence of a predefined event. Additionally, the method may include transmitting a warning signal when an energy level of a power supply associated with the transceiver is below a predetermined threshold. The method may further include locking the remote access point when an energy level of a power supply associated with the transceiver is below a predetermined threshold. The remote access point may be locked until the energy level is above the predetermined threshold.

In a wireless access control system, a method and system for providing indications of the state of a Wireless Access Point Module (WAPM) to an observer using at least one indicator mounted on the WAPM. The WAPM preferably provides indications of the version number of the software installed on the WAPM. Additionally, the WAPM may communicate with a WPIM. The WAPM may indicate that it is attempting to establish communication with said WPIM, is engaged in an error test with said WPIM, or has lost communication with said WPIM, for example.

In an RF access control system, a method for establishing a reliable RF signal link between points of the RF access control system. A first RF signal from a first point of the system is transmitted to a second point of the system at a first RF power level that is below a second RF power level used during normal operation of the RF access control system. Once the second point acknowledges the RF signal from the first point, then a pre-determined number of RF packets are transmitted and received back and forth between the first point and the second point at the first RF power level. An RF packet error count is generated in response to the transmitting and receiving of the pre-determined number of RF packets. If this error count is below a certain threshold value, then an indication is provided to an installer of the RF access control system of an RF channel number to be used by the RF access control system during normal operation.

The RF access control system includes a wireless panel interface module that transmits system component settings to a system management interface and receives configuration information from the interface. The system also includes a system management interface for retrieving component settings from the wireless panel interface module and generating configuration information to adjust the settings. The wireless panel interface module transmits the configuration information to system components. The system further includes a wireless access point module that receives configuration information from the wireless panel interface module via an RF communication link. An access processor adjusts settings of the wireless access point module based on the configuration information. A control processor adjusts settings of the wireless panel interface module based on the configuration information. The system also includes an access point controlled by the wireless access point module.

System management interface for radio frequency access control

In an access control system, a method and system for dynamic channel selection to select a channel for communication between a Wireless Access Point Module (WAPM) and a Wireless Panel Interface Module (WPIM). A number of communication channels are available. The WAPM attempts to communicate over a first channel and selects a second channel if the first channel is unsuccessful. The WPIM scans all the available channels so that communication may be established regardless of the channel chosen by the system. Alternatively, the available channels may be segmented into groups and an individual WAPM may be assigned to a group of channels rather than a single channel.
