An opto-electronic contact, method and connection system can utilize an active opto-electronic converter configured for removable optical engagement with an opposing contact. A barrel housing defines an interior cavity to capture the converter in the interior cavity for external optical engagement to the opposing contact via the first barrel opening for relative movement of the converter axis along the elongation axis, transverse thereto, and oblique thereto to accommodate mating tolerances responsive to engaging the opposing contact. A flexible circuit board assembly can be used to externally electrically interface the converter.

Advanced fiber-optic contact and method

A panel mount connector and method involve a connector shell assembly that is configured to be received in an opening that is defined by a panel with the connector shell defining a through passage. A flexible circuit board is supported within the through passage and defines a first external connection interface at one end for external electrical access from one side of the panel when the connector shell assembly is installed in the panel and at least the first external connection interface is supported for independent movement relative to the connector shell.

Advanced panel mount connector and method

A connector insert arrangement, an active optical cable and methods are described. The connector insert is receivable in a connector housing for removable engagement with a complementary connector. Dielectric inserts each support one or more electrical contacts for access by the complementary connector and each electrical contact is selected as one of a contact pad and a spring probe pin for electrical contact with a complementary spring probe pin and complementary contact pad, respectively, in the complementary connector. A ground body supports the dielectric inserts to maintain a characteristic transmission line impedance along each of a plurality of high speed data paths such that each high speed data path serves as an independent transmission line structure that provides a data transfer rate of at least 1 gigabit per second. An active optical cable is described that can be hermaphroditic.

Advanced multi-gigabit connectors, inserts, active optical cables and methods

There is described an apparatus for analyzing, identifying or imaging a target. The apparatus comprises a laser system which generates first and second laser beams having respective different frequencies, and directs the first and second laser beams along an optical path to a photoconductive material. An antenna structure is formed on the photoconductive material, the antenna structure comprises a first antenna for emitting electromagnetic radiation having a frequency dependent on the difference between said respective different frequencies of the first and second laser beams and a second antenna for generating a detection signal. A processor processes the detection signal to analyze, identify or image the target. The laser system is arranged such that the first and second laser beams overlap in a region of a surface of the photoconductive material having at least part of the first and second antennas formed thereon.

An apparatus for analyzing, identifying or imaging an target including first and second laser beams coupled to a pair of photoconductive switches to produce CW signals in one or more bands in a range of frequencies greater than 100 GHz focused on and transmitted through or reflected from the target; and a detector for acquiring spectral information from signals received from the target and using a multi-spectral heterodyne process to generate an electrical signal representative of some characteristics of the target. The lasers are tuned to different frequencies and a frequency shifter in the path of one laser beam allows the terahertz beam to be finely adjusted in one or more selected frequency bands.

A fiber optic gyroscope including a non-coherent light source for producing a first beam of light, an optical circulator in the path of said first beam for providing polarized second and third beams, respectively, with polarization orthogonal to each other, and a time division multiplexer in the path of the second and third beams. A first planar optical fiber loop is coupled to the time division multiplexer and has a first end and a second end coupled to the second and third beams respectively during a first time period. A second planar optical fiber loop is coupled to the time division multiplexer and has a first end and a second end coupled to the second and third beams respectively during a second time period subsequent to the first time period.

Multi-axis fiber optic gyroscope with single light source

Methods of attaching an optical line to a phase modulator in a fiber optic gyroscope. The methods include positioning at least one end of the optical line relative to a side of the phase modulator. The end of the optical line may have a first non-perpendicular angle and the side of the phase modulator may have a second non-perpendicular angle. The end of the optical line may be attached to the side of the phase modulator with the end of the optical line being non-parallel to the side of the phase modulator. The optical line may be an optical coil or a light path.

A compact fiber optic gyroscope including a first housing; a transceiver module disposed in the first housing, the transceiver module including a second housing; a non-coherent light source disposed in the second housing for producing a first beam of light; a single lens for focusing the first beam of light; an optical circulator disposed in the second housing and in the path of the first beam of light to produce polarized second and third beams respectively, with polarization orthogonal to each other; and first and second photodiodes disposed in the second housing and coupled to the optical circulator, wherein the first photodiode is a transmit monitor photodiode coupled to the second beam, and the second photodiode is a receiver photodiode. The first housing further includes a planar optical fiber loop having a first end and a second end; a phase modulator coupled to the third beam emitted from the transceiver module to produce fourth and fifth beams coupled to the first and the second end respectively of the optical fiber loop respectively, and for receiving the return sixth and seventh beams from the second and the first ends respectively of the optical fiber loop.
