The present disclosure pertains to stents having a coating applied thereto, wherein the coating comprises a biocompatible polymer/drug mixture, as well as devices comprising a metallic stent, a biocompatible polymeric carrier and a drug.

Methods and devices for delivering therapeutic agents to target vessels

An implantable composite medical device having a longitudinal length a woven textile portion having yarns interlaced in a woven pattern, a knitted textile portion having yarns interlooped in a knitted pattern. The woven and knitted portions are securably attached to one and the other to provide a composite woven and knitted textile surface along the longitudinal length of the device. The woven portion may have a permeability from about 30 to about 500 ml/min/cm, and the knitted portion may have a permeability from about 30 to about 15,000 ml/min/cm. Further, a crimped woven portion with a resiliently longitudinal stretchability from about 10 to about 100 linear percent over its quiescent longitudinal dimension or an uncrimped woven portion with a resiliently longitudinal stretchability of less than about 10 linear percent over its quiescent longitudinal dimension are useful. A knitted portion with a resiliently longitudinal stretchability from about 5 to about 200 linear percent over its quiescent longitudinal dimension is also useful.

Composite medical textile material and implantable devices made therefrom

Methods of making multi-furcated grafts and, more particularly, a bifurcated graft from at least one ePTFE member are provided. Also provided are grafts made according to such methods.

Multi-furcated ePTFE grafts and stent-graft prostheses and methods of making the same

The present invention provides an implantable graft that includes an elongate graft tube having opposing ends defining an attachment site for attaching the graft to a stent. The graft further includes a reinforcement member attached adjacent to at least one of the ends of the graft for establishing a reinforced attachment site for the graft, thereby preventing elongation of a suture hole in the material. Furthermore, the present invention provides a graft wherein at least one end of the graft is folded over itself and glued or sutured to itself and/or the stent, thereby forming a reinforcement thereto.

Implantable prosthesis having reinforced attachment sites

A stent-graft is provided for defining a prosthetic fluid passage within a body lumen. The stent-graft includes a graft having a forward section, and a pilot stent located within the forward section of the graft. The pilot stent has an expanded diameter less than that of a lumen in which it is to be deployed to permit fluid flow within the lumen during deployment of the stent-graft. Means are provided for subsequently expanding the pilot stent and the graft to the full diameter of the lumen.

Two-stage stent-graft and method of delivering same

A composite intraluminal prosthesis which is preferably used as a vascular prosthesis includes a layer of ePTFE and a layer of textile material which are secured together by an elastomeric bonding agent. The ePTFE layer includes a porous microstructure defined by nodes interconnected by fibrils. The adhesive bonding agent is preferably applied in solution so that the bonding agent enters the pores of the microstructure of the ePTFE. This helps secure the textile layer to the ePTFE layer.

Composite ePTFE/textile prosthesis

A graft, for example, an arterio-venous shunt graft, is provided, which in a first aspect of the subject invention, is formed with longitudinal ribs. With fibrotic tissue ingrowth between the ribs, a composite rib/tissue layer is formed about the graft. The ribs provide counteracting lateral force against the embedded tissue to seal punctures formed therethrough during hemodialysis procedures. To provide additional surface area for puncturing, the graft may be formed with a truncated cross-section. With a second aspect of the invention, the graft is mounted onto a strip to prevent kinking, twisting or bending during an implantation procedure.

Arterio-venous shunt graft

An elastomerically recoverable PTFE material is provided including a longitudinally compressed fibrils of ePTFE material penetrated by elastomeric material within the pores defining the elastomeric matrix. The elastomeric matrix and the compressed fibrils cooperatively expand and recover without plastic deformation of the ePTFE material. The material may be used for various prosthesis, such as a vascular a prosthesis like a patch, a graft and an implantable tubular stent. Further, a method of producing the elastomerically recoverable PTFE material is provided herein.

Elastomerically impregnated ePTFE to enhance stretch and recovery properties for vascular grafts and coverings

Methods of preparing intravascular stents with a polymeric coating containing macrocyclic lactone (such as rapamycin or its analogs), stents and stent graphs with such coatings, and methods of treating a coronary artery with such devices. The macrocyclic lactone-based polymeric coating facilitates the performance of such devices in inhibiting restenosis.

A method of forming a composite textile and ePTFE implantable device includes the steps of (a) providing an ePTFE layer having opposed surfaces comprising a microporous structure of nodes interconnected by fibrils; (b) providing a textile layer having opposed surfaces; (c) applying a coating of an elastomeric bonding agent to one of the opposed surfaces of the ePTFE layer or the textile layer; (d) providing a hollow member having an open end and an opposed closed end defining a fluid passageway therebetween and having a wall portion with at least one hole extending therethrough, the hole being in fluid communication with the fluid passageway; (e) concentrically placing the ePTFE layer and the textile layer onto the hollow member and over the at least one hole of the hollow member to provide an interior composite layer and an exterior composite layer, thereby defining a composite assembly, wherein the interior composite layer is one of the ePTFE layer or the textile layer and the exterior composite layer is the other of the ePTFE layer or the textile layer; (f) placing the hollow member with the composite assembly within a pressure chamber; (g) applying a pressure differential so that the pressure within the chamber is greater than a pressure within the fluid passageway of the hollow member; and (h) applying heat to the bonding agent to adhesively bond the textile layer and the ePTFE layer to provide a laminated composite assembly.

Pressure lamination method for forming composite ePTFE/textile and ePTFE/stent/textile prostheses

A method for providing dilation resistance to an implantable tubular graft includes the steps of (a) providing a graft having opposed open ends and a textile wall extending in a lengthwise direction therebetween defining a graft diameter, wherein the textile wall has radially extending yarns having a radial extent which inter-engage longitudinally extending yarns having a longitudinal extent to define a textile pattern and further wherein the radially extending yarns are obliquely oriented to the lengthwise direction of the graft, thereby defining a first acute angle from the lengthwise direction of the graft; (b) providing an elongate tubular mandrel having a diameter which differs from the graft diameter by a factor of at least 1.5; (c) positioning the graft over the mandrel to radially distend the graft, thereby reorienting the radially extending yarns to reduce the radial extent and to shift the radially extending yarns to a second acute angle from the lengthwise direction of the graft to define an reoriented textile pattern, wherein the second acute angle is greater than the first acute angle; and (d) heat setting the graft at a first temperature to set the inter-engaging yarns in the reoriented textile pattern to provide a graft with improved dilation resistance.

High stretch, low dilation knit prosthetic device and method for making the same

An implantable microporous ePTFE tubular vascular graft exhibits long term patency, superior radial tensile strength and suture hole elongation resistance. The graft includes a first ePTFE tube and a second ePTFE tube circumferentially disposed over the first tube. The first ePTFE tube exhibits a porosity sufficient to promote cell endothelization, tissue ingrowth and healing. The second ePTFE tube exhibits enhanced radial strength in excess of the radial tensile strength of the first tube.
