The instant invention provides a polyethylene composition and process for polymerizing the same. The polyethylene composition according to the present invention comprises the polymerization reaction of ethylene and optionally one or more &#x3b1;-olefin comonomers in the presence of a catalyst system, wherein said polyethylene composition comprises at least 2 or more molecular weight distributions, measured via triple detector GPC low angle laser light scattering (GPC-LALLS), described in further details hereinbelow, wherein each molecular weight distribution has a peak, and wherein measured detector response of peak 1 divided by the measured detector response of peak 2 is in the range of from 0.50 to 0.79, for example from 0.55 to 0.77.

Polyethylene composition and process for polymerizing the same

A polyethylene composition suitable for use in a living hinge component, the composition comprising a first ethylene-based polymer component, wherein the first ethylene-based polymer component has a density of from 0.940 g/cc to less than 0.960 g/cc, a melt index, I, of less than 0.5 g/10 min, and a weight average molecular weight, M, as measured by gel permeation chromatography using conventional calibration, of greater than or equal to 200,000 g/mol, and a second ethylene-based polymer component, wherein the composition has an overall density of from 0.945 g/cc to 0.960 g/cc and an overall melt index, I, of from 10 g/10 min to 70 g/10 min.

Polyethylene compositions having living hinge properties

A polymer composition comprises at least an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer and at least one other polymer. The other polymer can be selected from a second ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer, an elastomer, a polyolefin, a polar polymer, and an ethylene/carboxylic acid interpolymer or ionomer thereof. The ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer is a block copolymer having at least a hard block and at least a soft block. The soft block comprises a higher amount of comonomers than the hard block. The block interpolymer has a number of unique characteristics disclosed here. Also provided are gaskets, bottle cap liners, and closures that comprise or obtained from a compositon comprising at least one ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer and at least one polyolefin. The gaskets are capable of compression sealing various containers, without contaminating the contents. Liquid containers particularly benefit from the use of the novel gasket materials disclosed herein.

Cap liners, closures, and gaskets from multi-block polymers

Film, molded articles and fibers prepared from ethylene/&agr;-olefin interpolymer compositions are disclosed. The interpolymer compositions are blends prepared by combining specified amounts of a narrow molecular weight distribution, narrow composition distribution breadth index interpolymer, and a broad molecular weight distribution, broad composition distribution breadth index interpolymer, with each blend component having a specified density, melt index and degree of branching.

Ethylene interpolymer blend compositions

Thermoplastic compositions have been discovered which are suitable for rotational molding. The compositions have improved processability and/or improved physical and mechanical properties. The compositions advantageously often exhibit one or more of the following: reduced low shear viscosity, reduced melt elasticity at low shear rate, reduced cycle times, improved sintering and a wide range of processing temperatures, improved low temperature and/or room temperature impact, good environmental stress crack resistance, acceptable heat distortion temperature, and acceptable flexural and secant modulus.

Thermoplastic compositions for durable goods applications

Fibers made from formulated ethylene polymer compositions are disclosed. The ethylene polymer compositions have at least one homogeneously branched linear ethylene/&agr;-olefin interpolymer and at least one heterogeneously branched ethylene polymer. The homogeneously branched linear ethylene/&agr;-olefin interpolymer has a density from about 0.905 to about 0.92 g/cm3 and a slope of strain hardening coefficient greater than or equal to about 1.3.

The subject invention is directed to polymer compositions having improved bond performance, to a method for improving the bond performance of a polymer composition, and to fabricated articles, such as fibers and fabrics which exhibit an improved bond performance, and to other fabricated articles, including but not limited to rotationally molded articles, prepared from polymer compositions of the invention.

Ethylene polymer having improving sealing performance and articles fabricated from the same

Gaskets comprising either at least one homogeneously branched ethylene polymer or at least one elastic substantially linear ethylene polymer, at least one ethylene/carboxylic acid interpolymer; and at least one slip agent are disclosed. These gaskets may also contain enhanced polyethylenes produced by the direct polymerization of various combinations of novel elastic substantially linear olefin polymers in multiple reactors using either single or multiple catalysts. These gaskets may also be comprised of at least one ethylene polymer and at least one ionomer. The above mentioned gaskets may also contain slip agents and/or foaming agents. The gaskets are particularly useful for sealing food and liquid containers and do not contribute to taste and/or odor of the packaged product, which is especially useful in food-stuff applications. Gaskets comprising substantially linear ethylene polymers have processability similar to highly branched low density polyethylene (LDPE), but the strength and toughness of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE).

Gaskets made from olefin polymers

Fabricated articles made from formulated ethylene polymer compositions are disclosed. Films made from such formulated compositions have surprisingly good impact and tensile properties, and an especially good combination of modulus and toughness. The ethylene polymer compositions have at least one homogeneously branched substantially linear ethylene/.alpha.-olefin interpolymer and at least one heterogeneously branched ethylene polymer. The homogeneously branched substantially linear ethylene/.alpha.-olefin interpolymer has a density from about 0.89 to about 0.92 g/cm.sup.3 and a slope of strain hardening coefficient greater than or equal to about 1.3.

Ethylene polymer having improving sealing performance and articles

Polymer mixtures are disclosed which comprise at least one homogeneously branched ethylene polymer (A) and at least one ethylene polymer (B) having a crystallinity which is at least 7% greater than the crystallinity of polymer (A) with certain provisos. A process for making a molded article using the disclosed polymer mixtures is disclosed as well as films, film layers, coatings and molded articles formed from those mixtures. These mixtures have several advantages over polymer compositions of the prior art, including improved properties at elevated temperatures such as improved softening point under load, improved hardness, improved toughness, improved 100% modulus of elasticity, improved compression set, improved ability to prevent oil bleed out at lower temperatures when the mixture contains oil and reduced injection molding cycle time. The mixtures retain their performance advantages even when substantial amounts of additives such as oil and filler are incorporated into the mixture. The mixtures may also be crosslinked after they are formed into the shape of an article to form vulcanized elastomeric products. The polymer mixtures have utility in a variety of applications.

Polyolefin elastomer blends exhibiting improved properties

Modified polymer compositions having good flowabilty, impact performance and modulus made from at least one polyolefin (e.g., high density polyethylene or polypropylene) blended with minor amounts of either at least one homogeneous linear ethylene/C.sub.5 -C.sub.20 .alpha.-olefin or at least one substantially linear ethylene/C.sub.3 -C.sub.20 .alpha.-olefin polymer are disclosed. The compositions are suitable for thermoformed or molded thinwall applications such as drinking cups, lids, and food containers where the flow length to wall thickness ratios are greater than about 180:1. A process of making thin wall articles is also disclosed.
