A headlamp assembly for projecting light in a forward direction along an optical axis is provided. The headlamp assembly may include a housing, a low beam light emitting device, a high beam light emitting device, a low beam lens, a high beam lens, and a reflector. The low beam and high beam light emitting devices may be arranged in the housing and include first and second planar surfaces, respectively, from which light is emitted. The normal to the first and second planar surfaces may be oriented away from the optical axis at substantially forty-five degrees in relation to the optical axis. The normal to the second planar surface may be oriented away from the normal to the first planar surface at substantially ninety degrees.

Dual beam headlamp

A lamp assembly operable to project light in a forward direction along an optical axis includes at least one light emitting device, a first light collector and a second light collector. The at least one light emitting device includes a light emitting surface. The first light collector is disposed on a first side of the light emitting device and defines a first axis. The first light collector is symmetrically disposed about the first axis. The second light collector is disposed on a second side of the light emitting device opposite the first side and defines a second axis. The second axis is substantially aligned with the first axis. The second light collector is symmetrically disposed about the second axis. The first and second axes are tangential to the light emitting surface.

The optics system is a lamp assembly which produces the desired beam pattern by using a reflector, a lens, a retainer lens, and an LED as a light source. The lamp assembly has three main components (the reflector, the lens, and the retainer lens) that maintain proper alignment between the light source and the reflector, the lens, and the retainer lens. The optical system collects substantially 100% of the light from the light source while effectively shaping the beam pattern using both cylindrical and revolved reflector elements. The lens has a saddle-shape which is used with the surface of a revolution to eliminate any 'dogbone' light pattern shape. The use of a reflective element forms the foreground of the beam pattern.

Hybrid projector LED low beam headlamp

A novel vehicular light fixture () is disclosed. The light fixture () is compact, yet efficient, and employs semiconductor light sources () to produce output light in desired patterns. The fixture () can be used to produce fog lamps, driving lamps and other non-headlamp vehicle lighting functions. Depending upon the light output required, one or more semiconductor light sources () and a corresponding number of optical bodies () are employed in the fixture () to produce the desired light pattern.

The automotive lighting assembly includes a first lighting circuit which is operatively connected to the power source for emitting light as a function of electric current. Semiconductor-based lighting systems and lighting system components for automotive use

A light engine for use in systems such as automotive lighting systems employs two or more semiconductor light sources, such as LEDs. Light emitted from the light sources is captured by light pipes which are mounted such that the light capturing surface of the light pipes are properly positioned, with respect to the semiconductor light sources, substantially independent of changes in the dimensions of the light pipes which may result from thermal expansion or contraction of the light pipes. The light pipes transfer substantially all of the light captured from the semiconductor light sources to light emitting surfaces of the light pipes which can be appropriately located adjacent the output optics of the lighting system. The light engine can be easily assembled as the light pipes are retained in slots on a positioning member which is mounted at a known position with respect to the semiconductor light sources.

A headlamp fixture and a control system for controlling a vehicular lighting system to produce particular lighting patterns required under different regulatory regimes is disclosed. The headlamps employ semiconductor light sources to create the desired patterns and can include at least two inclined light source elements which are alternately illuminated to produce required side illumination or can include single light source elements which can be rotated clockwise and counterclockwise to produce the required side illumination. The lighting system can employ an output from a GPS receiver to determine the country or region in which the vehicle is being driven to automatically configure the operation of lighting system components, such as the side illumination of the headlamps and/or the activation and deactivation of daytime running lights, to meet the regulatory requirements of the country or region.
